Once again life has proved that you can't trump Bashert. Ten minutes before I was scheduled to depart Frankfurt, the European coordinator discovered a problem with my documents. I had a tight train connection so he sent me on my way. The next morning, to my chagrin, I discovered that my documents had read "Vincenza" rather than "Illesheim." His next words were, "if you hadn't already left, the easiest thing to do would have been to switch the two of you and send you to Italy." But I was alrea...

... then lay the finished piece on a conveyor belt that runs each piece, one after another, through an oven that cools the pieces down at a very slow rate (over all taking 12 hours if I remember correctly). Then you have the finished piece.
We also got to see a guy working on stems for already made glasses. The stems ranged in shapes and sizes, the most interesting being the ones that were filled with Swarovski crystals (shiny! Haha). After the demonstration, we wandered around ...
At Bamberg we left the Danube-Main Canal. The canal was completed in 1992 and allows ships to travel from the North Sea to the Black Sea. This connection had been dreamed of since Charlemagne tried digging one in the 8th century. Another attempt was made in the 1800s but the advent of the railroad doomed it. It took 20th century technology to make it possible. The canal itself has 34 locks out of the total of ...

Well once we got to Nuremburg it was all about the hockey game! A little backstory…Chris spent a year playing NHL09 (Playstation) online with his friend Danny. At first they changed their jerseys quite often but they eventually stuck with the Sinupret Icetigers (due to the lime green ...
... The cheering was intense and we could hear it all from the campsite…pretty fun! The campsite was very nice except for the fact that it was surrounded by acorn trees and we were constantly in fear of our lives! Lol…well just getting a bump on the head! We did get a few nice donks on the camper but it survived. One thing we did notice…no squirrels…very odd!

Since today is Sunday, nothing was open until 5 PM. It was a ghost town all day long, and now its just starting to come alive. My stomachache is finally gone...really happy about that.
I've finally been sleeping through the night
Not looking forward to any more long bus rides, but I think there is one later this week. I'll be able to use the internet ...
... shows us how important values like freedom, tolerance, democracy and human rights are.... Again the question is raised, as to what are the roots of such a mind-set and even more importantly what can be done against it? We have to defend the values of humanity time and again which sometimes is cumbersome. But freedom and democracy are based on the moral courage of all citizens to stand up to their beliefs. And this is infinitely easier today than ...

The town was honoring these former residents by memorializing their names on a marble structure which has been placed in one of the town squares. Several of the esteemed guests stayed at my hotel. It was a somber and emotional experience as the town honored them and they spoke at a ceremony held in a local church. I was so touched that they included me in this important piece of history ...
