2) A shorter route is the direct route that goes via Reute in Austria. It is a scenically extremely beautiful route, as it leads through the Ammer Valley with 2000 meter high mountains towering on both sides of the valley. However, there are some problems. Reute is located in Austria just south of Füssen. It is however important to find the right turn off to Linderhof ...
... offers a variety of dishes prepared with local Allgäu cheese. Beware though, the menu is not in German but rather in the Allgäu language making it even difficult to understand for the normal German. An English menu is not available. However one of the waitresses speaks pretty good English. The restaurant is less pricy, and set out like a bier restaurant with long tables and benches. All the dishes are pretty good. A ...
Füssen, Bavaria, Germany reisender... the place in the decorations. After our tour, we decided to walk/hike up to the bridge where we could see a lot of people taking photos. It was well worth it as the view is most likely the same one that we saw in all the photos-the leaves were just starting to change color and in a couple more weeks would have been spectacular. They were still great colors now, though. After our 7 Euro parking fee!, we saw a night of canned food ...
Füssen, Bavaria, Germany armajor7High up in the Allgäu Alps, a few miles from the village of Pfronten, we visited a very isolated for over 100 years family-run luxury hotel for dinner. A beautiful wooden structure with a grand view of the Alpe foothills, and cow bells of cows grazing in the pristine alpine highlands could be heard throughout our dinner stay.
The hotel served a gourmet dinner of freshly prepared local and international dining variety.
... The Schloss is the last stop on the Romantic Road in Germany. There were many Japanese tourists, which was fun for us to see. Unfortunately one side of the castle was under repair, but it was still beautiful to see the castle in its lush surroundings.
Hohenschwangau, Bavaria, Germany fiseb... too.
The rest of the tour took us to Linderhof castle and Neuschwanstein castle. What magical looking places they were. Neuschwanstein is the castle Walt Disney uses the sillohette of at the start of his movies. Anyway, after the trip it was back to Munich for a day or so and then on the plane home.
... although the throne, a symbol for authoritative law-making, was never made. Ludwig did not expect this room to be destined to diplomatic receptions, but rather as a fantasy realm where he imagined himself as Parzival, the Grail King. His bedroom is carved entirely of oak in the elegant Gothic style that he so adored. It ...
Fussen, Germany zentoAnother work conference for my parents brought us to Oberammergau for a week. We stayed in the cutest little wooden cottage - like the whole thing ceiling to floor and including flowering window boxes was made out of wood! Totally picturesque like you've read about in Brothers Grimm fairy tales. Aromatic town bakery. Absolutely enchanting.

Today we drove up into the mountains to see the fairy tale castle, Neuschwanstein. This is another of Ludwig's castles, this one unfinished, and served as the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle. It ...
