  • Museum Island - 5 museums on a little island in the middle of the river, impressive architecture and a general nice place to be (not that we had the time or inclination to go into any of them)

    ... tank that has a slow moving elevator inside so you are immersed 360 degrees within the tank. They have three divers that clean the windows for 2 hours a day 5 days a week. It holds over 1 million litres of water. The guide said if you filled your bath tub full once a day for 16 years you would finally fill the tank!     ... This is where American and Russian Tanks squared off during the cold war, almost starting WWIII. The checkpoint is still there, with photos of American and Russian soldiers and the signs stating that you are entering or leaving the American sector of Berlin.
    We saw the location of the 1933 Nazi Book Burning, buildings that survived, and so many other historic sites that it was hard to keep track. Andre and I are going on another tour tomorrow, in the sun! ...
