Adelaide 3 - Camping at Deep Creek

... The campsite was a lovely wooded area of stringybark trees so it was easy to find a site with enough shade that was flat and everything. The picnic was great - crusty granary rools with ham cheese, tomatoes, salad and grapes. Yummy. After we'd eaten we drove to the top of one of the hikes we'd chosen to do - the Aaron creek circuit hike. We set off and at first it was a beautiful kind of rolling hill countryside which felt a bit like home and a bit like ...

VICTOR HARBOR - McLAREN VALE

... poor things) and just happened to see two penguins settling into their burrow. They are getting ready to mate, with the males being the process of making the best burrow he can as this is how he will be chosen as "the one". I think these penguins know what it's all about. Also had a visit to Cape Jervis where the Sealink ferry takes visitors out to Kangaroo Island. We decided against this trip as the fares for us, the car and the van were very, very expensive. In fact we could have ...

70 days to go! and The Shed is finished!

... planned, but not in a motor home, not quite sure what we will do yet. So after 8 weeks away we will return broke! and it will be time for me to look for a proper job!! One thing that I have been thinking about a bit is buying a truck and contract of some sort and sharing it with another motor homer, three months on , three months off or similar, including the shed and flat. I reckon it might work with the right people!!

Christmas greetings and an update

... days and did some biking round the wineries there - including one run by Benedictine monks and the cycle path included the Stations of the Cross ( RC'ers will understand) which was a novelty. Then on to the Barossa Valley for some further wine tasting including Jacob's Creek - no need to taste the wine there as we know what it's like! A few days before Christmas we moved to just outside Adelaide - nice, small ...

Day 7 - 13 Port Elliot

Day 7 - 13 (306) Robe to Port Elliot Sun Dec 7th The drive to Port Elliot along a coastal road, reminded me of the Gipplsand Lakes. The Coorong National Park is located on the land that separates the sea from Lake Alexandina, similar to Bunga Arm near Raymond Island. There was also that attractive algae bloom on top so I felt right at home... Dave and Sally Haskard told us we had to visit a winery called Bleasedale in Langhorne creek on the way through, under sufferance ...

Whicked Camper

... Adelaide. We parked in a campsite right on the beach for $15 and made a dinner out of our camper. kick ass homemade chilli from scratch, mixed greens with onion and tomaotoe and balsamic, and box wine. really good. There were a group of really rad and super friendly ozzies camping with us. Fox introduced himself and we went with him and met everyone else. Everybody had nicknames that all started with an ...

When we get back we will get on with fitting out the shed at our leisure, so lots to do, but its looking good!!!

Wrong Side of the Road-Trip

... drunk, and so I really didn't take offense then. I finished up my meal, and then tried to figure out how to get to Tony's hotel. He had rented a car and we were set for a road trip in South Australia. Well I hadn't checked my email, and on the phone all I heard was the Majestic. So after a bit of searching I realized that there are 4! Majestic hotel's in Adelaide. So rather than trying to walk to each of them to ...

Port Elliot

A very charming town where we made a brief stopover for lunch. At the Foreshore, we had lunch at Flying Fish Cafe, which was recommended by Lonely Planet, as well as by one of the ladies we spoke to at the cellar doors, so we know we should not miss this place. Lunch crowd was good and the cafe was rather full so we had to squeeze ...
