... them into the boot of the car. Rhiannon is not allowed to attempt this important job. Only I know the secret of the intricate jigsaw that allows everything to fit into the limited space that Doris' posterior offers. A spoon out of place and the bloody esky* isn't going anywhere. (*Esky=icebox for transport of perishable foods, but more importantly, cold beers). We drove along the coast towards the Twelve Apostles, described in the Lonely Planet as 'the ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia rachelhwalshFantastic drive down the Great Ocean Road, calling in at what used to be the Twelve Apostles (not so many left now) and London Bridge (an arch that has now collapsed) - wild ocean and lots of erosion (and a fair few tourists too). We also saw a few lighthouses, a few koalas in the trees but no carnivorous snails... (apparently they do exist ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia dawnandphillWe collect what will become the fastest car on the road, our own Hyundai Getz in red and head out of Melbourne. We arrive at Torquay, the start of The Great Ocean Road. Now two things. The first. Everywhere in Australia is named in two ways. Either by the Englishman who founded it, usually after themselves. Or by a dyslexic drunk! How else can you explain places like Wagga Wagga, Woolloomooloo or the Bungle Bungles? Secondly. The Great Ocean Road is a great driving route ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia thecolleys... on bikes. We found ourselves at the local Chinese restaurant for dinner. Sleep was next on our minds... sleeping for a week, precisely - to catch up on that missed recently and necessary to start to unwind. Tues Dec 2nd Greg headed off for his usual walk early next day.. so much for a sleep in. He checks out the area by foot and reports in his findings over breakkie. We ride the short distance into town as we follow Gregs footprints. The Moyne ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia millersofozA few things to actually write about this time! Hence taking so long... I've been saving it up! The Scottish gals who are my East Coast travel buddies finally arrived. We went out for dinner Sunday evening and got all caught up. Gill has gone on to Syndey to spend a few days with her bf, who is visiting for two weeks, and I've been spending time with Anita, and we are catching the Saturday overnighter Greyhound to meet up in Sydney. A few days there, and the explorations ...
Great Ocean Road, Australia decemberchick... On the way out to Warrnambool we stopped for a late lunch at Geelong, but there wasn´t much else to see there so we carried on, on those exciting straight roads through grasslands to our hotel for the night. We splurged out a bit on a really nice hotel called the Mantra Deep Blue, which was very nice but a bit out of place in this town but it looked like they were trying to develop it being the last town on the Great Ocean Road. That night we had a ...
Warrnambool, Australia shieldsontour... one Chakra, through personal meditation, guided visualisation partner work involving a mix of eye contact and body contact, voice working with Lam, Vam Ram Yam Ham Aum and Hung (hoeun bit of a difficult one to spell phonetically)respectively ofr each Chakra, dance and voice in ones own space, then dance and voice as a group coming together for a final guided visualisation, with a touch of hypnotic script to allow the subconscious to make a good recording of ...
Port Fairy, Australia sammmiles... it was so hot & humid. After our walk we had our picnic lunch & headed for Port Campbell. our next hostel. In our bldg. there were only 2 other girls from Sweden. We watched Roger Federer play that amazing game that went on for over 4 hrs. Realized you were all sleeping & probably wouldn't see it till the next day. Wondered if you saw the results on the internet befeore ...
Port Campbell, Australia gloria18... a small town on the coast of the Southern Ocean. It's a big tourist area and many Aussies head down here for their "holiday". Gorgeous highway that runs right next to the ocean with many nice beaches and coast. Very big surfing spot. I asked a local gal where I might spot a koala bear in the wild and she told me about a certain dirt road off the ocean hwy. We drove up there, I was hopeful to spot maybe one bear. We ended up spotting 10 ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia andersonmiller... and orange in color dot the coast. Many of the formations are quite famous. We stayed in a campsite near the "Twelve Apostles". These are twelve huge islands that are have human proportions. It took us two days to travel the Great Ocean Road before heading to Melbourne where I was anxious to meet up with my old school friend, Nancy.
