In 1996 work on a new road outside of Lod, Israel uncovered a spectacular set of mosaics dating from the 3rd century. Part of a roman villa, the central mosaic is the largest and best preserved from anywhere in the Levant. This central section was lifted and preserved and is now a touring exhibition, supported by the Rothschild Foundation. The only place it is visiting in the UK is Waddesdon Manor, the country estate built by Baron Rothschild ...

Well goodbyes are never easy, especially when we wont be seeing our families for 2 years - unless they come out and join us of course!

... cheer. We scored our selves a free chocolate and headed off to the train station to go home. Thursday (12th) we headed to Kensington palace to start our morning. The park surrounding the palace is very picturesque. The palace itself wasn't overly good looking. Inside we looked at past outfits, child's toys, ballroom and the kings staircase etc. If you were a royal fanatic then it would be worthwhile but for us it was just a tick in the box. We then headed to kings cross ...

Dan offered to take us out to see one of the local grand estates, Waddesdon, which is approximately forty five minutes from home.

Waddesdon is owned by the Rothschild family, and was used for their social gatherings rather than as a family home. It is now managed by the National Trust. The grand ...
