Historical Traveler Reviews of Fitzgeralds Hotel And Casino Reno
Worst Hotel Experience EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
from A TripAdvisor Member
The Fitzgerld hotel is the wost hotel I have ever stayed at in my life!!!!!! My boyfriend had received an offer for a free night so we decided on staying at Fitzgeralds. Well, after we checked in, we went out to dinner at a nearby buffet. After dinner, I was feeling a bit light-headed so I decided to go back to the hotel room to get some aspirin. Luckily I did. Since Reno is not the safest place in the world, my boyfriend made sure to accompany me when I went back to our room. We were only in the room for ten minutes so I could take my aspriin and splash some cold water on my face. As I was washing up, I heard the door opening. Mind, you... me and my boyfriend were already in the room.To my horror, a large strange man was entering my room with a KEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The hotel double-booked our room!!! I was furious!!!!!!!!!!!!! So many things could have potentially occurred...I could have been alone. The man entering the room could have robbed and hurt me, etc...Fitzgerald didn't give a ****. I called the front desk and a woman came up with a security guard who tried to intimidate me (the victim) and had the nerve to quickly offer me 10% off my room to forget the incident. I voiced my anger to her and demanded the manager. She informed me that he was off and could not be reached. BS!!!!!!! In a hotel that size, there is always management present. So the next morning, once again I demanded the manager who was so-called unavailable. They had a really nice woman at the front counter take the heat for him. I Needless to say, I WAS OUTRAGED!!!!!!No apology and not even an offer to make ammends!!!!!!!!I informed her that I worked for several attorneys and dam well knew my rights and told her if I did not receive any contact from they management, that I would seek legal action immediately.I sent in a formal complaint to Fitzgeralds and the better business bureau. Til this day I have not received any form of an apology or remorse from this hotel's management!!! I will not go into the details of my legal battle but I would like to warn everyone to stay away from this hotel.Like I said before, Reno is not the safest place in the world and I was lucky that nothing happened with the above incident but there is still a chance that something could have. Lucky for me, the man who entered my room was just as upset as I was and he and his wife were the only ones who were apologetic to me. He told me that HE was sorry that I had to go through such a scare.Avoid this hotel by all means for your own safety and sanity. The hotels were all booked so I had no choice but to stay at the Fitzgeralds overnight and I could not sleep a wink fearing that someone else could barge through my door.AVOID THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND PLEASE PLEASE...DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT BRINGING YOUR CHILDREN OR OTHER LOVED ONES TO THIS FACILITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
They lost my car in valet
from A TripAdvisor Member
Well it all started when me, my husband and my friend went to eat at fitzgeralds, I had my car valeted thinking my vehicle and belongings were safe (we were stopping by coming back from vegas) we came back an hour and a half later and the valet couln't find my keys, I thought it was a joke, but really my car was gone. They weren't all that understanding about what my feelings were. They comped me a room and food. They found my car 2 days later with everything gone, someone had gutted my car. managers like to give people the runaround when they know they are at fault. our first days stay the maid went into our room and threw everything away(police reports and personal belongings) The food tasted all right but don't go to the Buffet, it's gross. Also the elevaters are so very slow. This hotel is horrible and wouldn't tell my worst enemy to stay there.
Had a great time

My husband and I and 4 friends stayed at your Hotel and were very impressed with the rooms and casino. The nicest part of our stay was the staff, from the floor people to the maids, everyone was so pleasant. We will be back!
This Hotel Needs Upgrades
from A TripAdvisor Member
In August my fiance, her mother, and I decided to go to Reno at the last minute. Right on Labor day weekend so it was really hard to find a room at any of the Casinos. We had to stay one night at the Atlantis and then scramble to find a hotel. The only one we found with vacancy was the Fitzgerald so of course we went with it. I booked the suite cause that's all they had left. And while the room was very nice and the staff was curteous the Hotel itself just isn't impressive at all.
They don't have enough elevators and they are slow. The buffet was the worse I have been to in any of the hotels in Reno. It tasted more like cafeteria food. And don't believe all that hype about lucky slots. I didn't even last 10 minutes on the slot games. I think that the Fitzgerald can be a good Hotel Casino if they upgrade the elevators and put better food in there.
Above Average

If your looking to stay in a good, secure hotel/ casino Fitzgeralds
would be a good choice.
No World Class dining here and no Fancy rooms.
If you just want to gamble and have the average things you would expect
in a casino, Fitz's the place. We met many people who stayed in the
Fancy hotels on the strip who came to Fitz's to gamble.Very loose slots
and a wide selection as well. Free and secure parking.Nice location to
other Casino's.The other casino's in the area offer loose slots and
good games all within walking distance on Fremont street.
If you want Fancy Frills,Crowds and Glitter go stay on the strip.
If you are interested in Gaming with good odds at winning a little in an above average atmosphere Fitz's is the place.
The place sucks.

Its a dump situated on the train tracks. The rooms are cheesy and dirty but the worse part of my stay was when we went into the coffee shop for breakfast. The breakfast was ok, but when my friend went to eat the english muffin, there was mold all over the bottom. We called the waiter over and told him that the muffin was moldy. His response, and I will never forget his dead serious attitude. "I didnt put it there" and then he walked away.
When I made a stink with the cashier, they comped the muffin. Most eateries with any amount of class would have comped the meal.
Fantastic trip

The Fitz is a great place to stay if you dont want the mega resort expierence. The suite we stayed in was fantastic and cheaper the any we have stayed in ever. we had a very relaxing vaction and business trip because of that. Food was great at limerick and molly's but the buffet was a little weak. Everyone we met from the hotel was very helpful and polite. we will definitly return there on our next trip.

Very Pleasant Stay

We just returned from a week at the Fitzgerald's and overall our experience was great! Of course the elevators will always be slow and we did have a little problem with slow valet response. The restuarants were fine and I had heard the buffet was not the best but we ate at several of the buffets in town and all of them seem to have slipped on the quality of the food. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I had also heard that it was a noisy place to stay....except for the trains which you hear in several of the hotels......it was very quiet. We will be back there again next year!

Situated right on the Reno 'strip' the fitz meets the needs if you are looking for a more basic hotel. There is no pool or spa. The room I stayed in was larger than average and very well kept. Good valet parking even tho the garage is some distance, we never had to wait long. The gambling and drink service was good. I recall tipping well and recieving all doubles at the video poker bar. Small sports book, better elsewhere. I really enjoyed Limerecks steakhouse but would avoid the buffet as better elsewhere. The coffee shop is ok but seems to have slipped lately. All in all, worth the time and money, great location.
