An interesting start to our stay in Memphis, pulled over by an extremely large African American Policeman as we drove down a one way street the wrong way. Lights and siren blaring. He was very understanding and did not book us. We then stumbled across The Historic First Baptist Beale Choir performing their Christmas Concert. They invited us into their church, we were the ...

From Oaklahoma City to the casinos of Tunica
... away but we were not here to spend our money at the tables. And in this heat and humidity, I’d drive to the casino. After we got set up it was time for dinner. Instead of the $22 super buffet at the casino I found a place that got high reviews – The Hollywood Café. This had nothing to do with the casino as it had been around for over 40 years and much before the casinos opened. It was located around 6 miles away in this old shack ...

Slots are NOT the loosest
We stayed at Fitzgeralds-the rooms were fine, nothing special but the cafe there was sooooo slow--food was cold--service slow---the casino seemed so crowded and slots were one big rip off.....we have never had such bad luck. And no one comes around offering drinks. In the other casinos it took forever to get a drink also. We just were NOT impressed with Tunica. We won't be going back there.
Fitzgeralds was the best!!!!!
My sister, brother-in-law and myself visited Tunica for three days after Christmas and altho I had been once I hadn't toured the other casinos. My sister had been several times and took me too all of them and I played the slots and ended up going back to Fitzgeralds where I really enjoyed playing and altho I didn't win any jackpots, decided that I would always go back to Fitzgeralds!!!!!
Best weekend of my life
My first trip to tunica was to fitzgeralds it has a great atmosphere, and its very lovely. i enjoyed everything about my stay. The people were great, the gaming very fun, the food excellent, the room very very nice. i would recommend fitzgeralds to everyone. go there and if you time is one tenth of the time i had there it will still be fabulous.
Quite pleased
I stayed here several years ago, was able to stay without a reservation for $19.00 a night. Quite pleased with the hotel & casino. It was clean and rivaled Vegas but the help was very slow and rude; at check in and in the restaurant. I've stayed at other Tunica hotels and received the same treatment from the staff. Don't quite understand it since Tunica has little else to offer except their Casino business.
Me and my husband was very satisfied with our stay at your hotel
My husband and i enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the casinos were nice and spacious the staff members seemed quite friendly and the hotel was very clean including the casinos...we will be staying at this hotel again.
Not a good trip to Fitzgeralds
Made it to Tunica, stayed at Fitzgeralds. Rooms not very nice. Staff wasn't the friendliest at check in/out time. First night there, our room was flooded by the people in room above us. We had to leave our room at 1am. Was told then that we could return to that floor the next day since we had friends there. Next day, nobody at the front desk knew anything it, had to actually check out and back in to get the floor we wanted.
Went to the Hollywood Casino. Wanted change for a $100. Asked for some $10's. The person looked right at me and said "I know what kind of day this is going to be". Like they had to get up and go somewhere to get it. Not a friendly place either.
Won't go back to Tunica for a long while.
Fitageralds Casino 10 hotel 0
Went to Fitzgeralds for my Birthday this June. Booked what the reservationist called a 'Terrace Suite W/Jacuzzi', I called back to make sure it wasn't just a bathtub with jets, and was assured it was a 2 person jacuzzi seperate from the bath! They told me we could get our room as early as 1:00. We arrived at 1:00 and was told come back around 3:00, that was fine, however when 3:00 came we were told to come back in 45 minutes. Guess what? It was 4:20 when we got our room and surprise(!) No terrace or jacuzzi.....just a bathtub with jets! After much disappointment on the wait and the room, my husband went downstairs to see where the mix up occurred and was actually told by the hotel staff that the reservationist will tell you anything to book you and they don't know what any of the rooms are! Now thats professional! After all it was my 45th birthday, so we made due, the room was OK, much outdated and we saw a couple cockroaches in the room! The morning we were leaving we asked for a night comped with the three of us playing quite a bit in the casino for 2+ days, and were told that we were comped over 300.00 in meals. After coming home, I figured out our meal comps and we got comped for a total of 9 meals at 10.00 each. now how you get over 300.00 out of that is beyond me. The casino was great, the dealers were very friendly and helpful, the waitstaff and bartenders were friendly, however I suggest you stay elsewhere. Go to the casino and enjoy but sleep someplace else. Oh yea, I earned around 450 points on my players card and was told it was worth 4.00! No free coffee cup, key chain or anything! Good Luck!!
Fitzgearlds
We have stayed at Fitzgearlds 4 times in the past 2 years. Our last
vist Feb 2003 was not as good as expected. We had touble with coupons
and room rates. The hotel is getting shabby and needs to be updated.
Our room a handicaped non smoking, had been smoked in. WE will not stay
there again.
Very poor security
While staying at the casino hotel on Feb. 22, 2002, I observed from my room, someone breaking into a car. I could see them with a crow bar ripping a radio out of the dashboard. I called the front desk right then. I then watched the thieves continuing to work on the dash. I called again and told them where they were and the kind of vehicle they were in. Finally a security vehicle appeared in the rear lot. The Jeep Cherokee the crooks were in, started driving around the lot. I called again to security and told them where the vehicle was. Now this was 2 a.m. in the morning. Finally it looked like security was going to close in. The Jeep sped off at hight speed with security behind them. I called back and told them that was the right vehicle and I was willing to come downstairs and testify. Well, as it turns out, they did not even catch the thieves. There is only one way in to the back lot, and one way out of the casino to the main road, and still they could not catch the thieves. I would be very reluctant in the future to park my car at Fitzgeralds hotel, especially in the back of the hotel. I really feel like security was too slow to arrive and afraid to confront the automobile thieves.
Hotel Rooms
The rooms at Fitzgeralds are only fair. They were not very clean and my nonsmoking room smelled of smoke terribly. I would probably not stay again, although I did like the quick access to the casino area. The rooms at the Grand Casino are great, but access to the casino is by shuttle, which sucks.
