      ... showing definite signs of fall, and lots of pretty lakes. Crossed the Mississippi river at St. Cloud and almost didn't notice it. Not nearly as dramatic as crossing the Missouri a few days ago.

      ... we made it to the cabin and showed everyone but made him a bed of grass and leaves and gave him a dish of water for the night. Thankfully the turtle seemed unharmed and moving happily the next morning when he was actually let go!

      The cabin near Lake Superior (just beyond Tofte for those that want to know) is beautiful. Within a stones throw of the lake itself and lots of beds for the 20 odd family who are here with us. It reminds me a bit of a ski lodge, all open two stories ...

As ships pass, there is a customary horn-blowing sequence that is copied back. Long-short-long-short means to raise the bridge, and Long-short-short is a friendly salute.

      So we've been trying to run away on a weekend adventure for about a month now. Of course I have been wide open in terms of planning and being able to go, however, my travel friends have been struggling to get shifts covered at work that would allow them to run away for a weekend!
