      ... south but these resorts are really a bit naff! Lots of aging hotels whose heyday was probably at least 50 years ago. It is a strange idea of entertainment - but each to his own! Piers with "amusement" arcades (pokies etc), sea fronts littered with shops selling buckets and spades and other kitch etc etc. All very English! Our highlight was to find that Boscombe Pier was designated "Pier of the Year' in 2010 but it has absolutely nothing on it and we decided that ...
