... way. The other two, Gekko and Ewald, are Namibian. They take turns driving the truck. When we arrive at a campsite, all 3 of them set up our tents, cook our meals over a campfire, etc. like a well-oiled machine. They have been taking very good care of us and their cooking is terrific! The first night, we had a fabulous dish called no-name chicken.

Tomorrow morning I'm going quad biking on the dunes and in the afternoon I should have time to post some more.
Swakopmund, Namibia naomi7... aircarft .....the wind is blowing a gale out there ...and you have to move your ass over the edge of the plane into nothingness.............the noise of the plane and the wind deafen you as you hear your instructor screaming "Let GO!"..........you let go ........and everything goes... WEIRD!!!!!!!!!
A Couple of tumbles later and we arrive at a steady freefall position ...........the camera is on the instructors wrist pointing towards me ...
Swakopmund, Namibia nickmofry... and shoes back on afterward was not appealing and so I watched as more then half took off their shoes digging their toes in happily. After all the exclamations of happiness I capitulated and took mine as well, adding them to the pile and setting off after the group hurriedly.

We learned a lot on that dune walk, perhaps the most I have learned so far from any one person in Africa. He told us how the wind from the ...
Walvis Bay, Namibia claraz8... sand here is different to Sasriem, it is much more golden and not as fine, but it still managed to get everywhere, especially after the sand boarding, which was really good fun!! Basically just a piece of plywood, the side of a sand dune and speeds of about 70kmh!!
Although the walk back up the dune was not so fun - skiing definately wouldnt have become so popular without the invention of ski lifts!!!!

So now I think I can safely say Ive done sand dunes and the desert!!!
Vom heiss trockenen Savannenwetter ...
Swakopmund, Namibia floreas... their parents being hesitant and keeping their distance for the most part. I think in the end though we may not have change the minds of every person who came that day, but we definitely at least made people a little more comfortable with the LGBTI community on some level. The second phase of my project implementation required us to have the exhibitions at the schools. I called the three major tertiary schools in Windhoek ...
Swakopmund, Namibia jkbenzschawel... morning I am going sand boarding. The lady who runs/owns the company is actually an American from California. There are two ways to do sand boarding...you can either stand up like snowboarding or lay down like sledding on your belly. I chose to do the stand up. They drove us into the middle of nowhere desert to all the dunes. Sand boarding is a very ecofriendly sport so there are no chairlifts or rope tows. You have to walk up the dune after every run...its harder than ...
Swakopmund, Namibia gajordandk51... the group the following day and we became a total of 27 people. First, I have to say that we had an amazing group. Everyone is so lovely and friendly, I can't say that there is one person that I don't genuinly like. I am the only Canadian which is awesome because I like being unique :) I'm also the oldest in the bunch which I expected. The rest consisted of the usual suspects...aussies, kiwis, brits, dutch, a couple of safas (south africans) as well....and one american. <br ...
Swakopmund, Namibia travelbug15... by Yvonne the Irish girl who was an absolute hoon. She achieved the fastest speeds on all of the dunes. On my last big trip down the dune I got eye fulls of sand which pretty much stayed with me for a few days. A lot of people ate a heap of it though - I'm not sure which would be worse?! In between a few of the larger dunes, Shae and I got to go down one together. She had to hold up the front (without breaking it) and I had to steer and slow us down if we looked like we ...
