First World Genting Highlands

... this part of town was just a little closer to where we were staying (it's walking distance but about 20 min. away) and I think I would have been much happier. <br><br>Melaka is a cute, small town that is easily walkable in a day. There are a few historical buildings to check out and Chinatown is great for just wandering around during the weekend festivities. We happened to find a beautiful temple that was full of worshipers (because it was sunday?) and it was cool to see them ...

... and it was something very cultural that we got to experience; the types of experience that make this trip even better! We weren't sure where the parade was taking us and it was starting to get dark, so we decided to leave the parade after an hour or two and head back to the hostel. We were suprised that so many of the Malaysians were able to walk 2miles without getting tired (even though alot of them did seem tired), because nobody ever walks anyway in SE-Asia, they're not used to it! haha. ... ... to escape the balmy heat of Kuala Lumpur for a few days of relaxing by the pool and exploring the mountain top. We even went on the cable car to the top - apparently the World's Longest cable car (or possibly highest . . . or slowest . . . i don't remember exactly. Anyway, its the world's somethingest cable car).

... We watched the FLY show which was ho-hum. Too bad we were not able to try the rides. We went inside the casino - Genting has 3 I think - just to see the place and to check out who played. Majority were Chinese. I guess this says something about their increasing prosperity.

... the main agenda was to unwind. We spent most of our time trying out different cuisines and sitting around at all the various outdoor cafés and of course sampling the night life in the evenings. Two days went by very swiftly - it's a really fun place to hang out. Personally not my idea of a Travel destination - too urbane and civilized for me - but hey..someone else was paying for this, so make the most of it I did ;-) The theme park ...
