Historical Traveler Reviews of First Vesterbro Hotel Copenhagen

Great Location

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel is about a 5 minute walk from Central Station and Tivoli Gardens. The hotel is clean and all facilities are satisfactory. They have complimentary coffee/Tea/Juice and Danishes in the reception area for breakfast, aswell as a nicer breakfast in their restaurant. I would definately stay here again.

I was apprehensive about booking this hotel but since

it was a 4 star Hotel near Tivole Gardens, Stroget,

City Square and Train Station I decided to do so. We

stayed 5 nights there. Each room has modern updated

furniture, one window, minibar, heated towel rack, hair

dryer, plus extra towels, pillows in wardrobe. Very

clean and freshly painted. They were waxing the wood

flooring doing our stay. It had 3 elevators and security

entrance doors. Once had problem with elevator door

not opening but just went down one floor and walked up.

Reception staff were very professional and extremely

helpful with maps, tours, and storing luggage securily.

I would highly recommend this Hotel and would certainly

stay here again. Various juices, coffee and butter

roll available free of charge each AM. We walked to most places but watch please watch out for the bikes

and the cobblestone roads.

Excellent Hotel, Excellent Service

from A TripAdvisor Member
My wife and I stayed at the hotel during a trip in October. I was nervous booking the hotel online, via hotels, as it was the first time I'd used the service for an international hotel. I shouldn't have worried. The hotel was great, with a nice location (near the train station) and great rooms. The first room that we were given had an annoying hum from the a/c unit. A quick call to the desk had us in an identical room on another floor. No problems at all with that one.The breakfast was great, the location by the train station was nice, and the high speed internet in the rooms added a nice touch. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Not always OK

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was at this hotel twice, so I was able to notice the difference of service between peak and off-peak season. In July this hotel, as well as the city, was full of tourists, so getting breakfast in the mornings was a struggle for life: everything is self-service and the staff never managed to keep the pace when refilling the buffet with foods, drinks, plates, cutlery etc, not to mention the difficulty in finding a place to sit. There were also problems with the housekeeping: once I got back very late at night and found the bed without any sheets or pillowcases, certainly the chambermaid had been interrupted when doing the room, and never completed the job, so I had to call the poor guy at frontdesk for help. I would recommend this place only in off-peak season, and only for a short stay (max 2 nights) because the wardrobes are very small.

By the way, single rooms are the smallest rooms I have ever seen in a hotel.

Overpriced but nice

We stayed at the First Hotel Vesterbro the night before a cruise of the Baltic Sea. The location was excellent; we were able to walk in five minutes to Tivoli Gardens and in about ten minutes to the city center.

The breakfast buffet was amazing. The rooms were very expensive and small but very clean and modern, overlooking the street with its Danish architecture. I would definitely recommend it!

Grunge class

from TA_ReviewerCarmel
This hotel was a massive disappointment that did not live up to its reputation. The rooms were worn, with broken bathroom fittings and none of the amenities that one would expect from a first class hotel. I booked a twin room, non-smoking for myself and my child, but when I arrived no such room was available. After suffering a lecture from the hotel manager on why I should not have booked the room over the internet, he gave me an upgrade to a room that was about 3 m2 larger than the first room. They brought in a day bed for my child, but left a dirty pillowcase hanging off the end of it. I would never stay here again.

Wonderful Staff

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the First Hotel Vesterbro.

It is a modern hotel near the Central Train Station. I can't say enough good things about the staff. Everyone there was extremely helpful and friendly, including the manager. The room was comfortable, but small by American standards and came equipped with a minibar. The buffet breakfast, which was included in our room rate, was very extensive. The enclosed atrium provided a pleasant atmosphere in which to enjoy our meal.

Good value room and breakfast

from A TripAdvisor Member
We enjoyed our stay at First Vesterbro, not least because the weekend that we visited (Aug. 1-3) was a very hot and sticky one, and this hotel has air-conditioning! We did find our room hot upon arrival, but we got the A/C started and went out to walk around for an hour to find temperatures more pleasant.

The room was comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. The breakfast buffet was excellent. First Vesterbro is located in the hotel district around Copenhagen's main train station, so it's no better or worse than others in terms of location. Not as charming as some hotels I've stayed in, but having A/C on a hot and humid summer's day is worth more than charm!

Good Value - Good Location

from skimple
I had two stays at the First Hotel Vesterbro in six weeks and was very pleased both times. Rooms are smart, clean, and good size. Each floor has a security door, which gave me a little extra comfort in an unfamiliar city. A 15 minute walk from Stroget, and 5 minutes from the main station. Not much in the immediate neighborhood, but still well located. Check-in is usually very busy, and I ran into bus loads twice, but if you can check in late and out early, you'll avoid this. The breakfast buffet is worth paying to have it included with the room.

Food is simple but good, and plenty of it. Not the cheapest hotel, but a good value for the quality of the rooms and the location.

I regularly visit Copenhagen, and whenever possible I stay at the First. It is well located, has excellent ammenities and good-sized rooms. When I couldn't get my laptop connection to work and their business centre was closed, they let me use a PC in their back office - even though it was 10pm! Other hotels in this price bracket just don't compare.
