First Grand Odense

Hello from Odense, Denmark!

It's our last morning in Denmark! Never again will I visit this beautiful country!

Or at least not on this tour!

We had a great show last night (no one fell on stage!) and a great day overall. We started off the morning by giving public speeches. As many of you are aware, a huge aspect of Up With People is self-growth ...

... burst with laughter! At the end of the dance number, Tim (Chicago) almost drops Leslie (Arizona). And Leslie and Paul's (South Dakota) costumes almost came off during "Jai Ho", a dance from India.

I'm sure more funny moments occurred but those were the ones that I noticed. But of course, our shows are so full of energy that I'm sure no one in the audience noticed.

Right? :)

Well, time for bed! We have a Vattanfall show tomorrow and then... we ...

... part of the best UWP Cast ever! They deserve the best treatment!

We had so much fun appreciating our guys and showering them with love :)

I'm now at my new host family's home with Aude, my roommate, from Quebec, Canada. Our host family is wonderful :) We have 2 host sisters too! They are 17 and 19.

Well, time to get ready for bed :) By the way, look at your calendar right now! 3 weeks from tomorrow ...

... with an extensive and beautiful 16th century altarpiece. Then I saw the place of H.C Andersons childhood. He was very poor and lived in a tiny house shared with five other families. The nice lady allowed me to go in for free because I had run out of Danish Krona. I am meeting Australians everywhere.

... for both adults & kids. Enjoyed the working Viking village with actors living in Ribe very much. Including a working Viking Blacksmith & potter. Its all done very well & not over priced. Reenactments of Viking skirmishes were very good & they really go for it! kids always love that bit. Sailed out on the fiord at Roskilde & even got to help rowing the boat as crew. saw the Jelling stone ...

... who live in Sdr. Felding. The Kristensen’s were wonderful and invited us to stay at their cottage in Skarrild only 10 min. away from them and close to Legoland. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to spend time with them and get to see how they go about daily life in Denmark. On the way to the cottage we stopped at the Madsby Lege Park in Frederica for a picnic lunch and some time at another amazing playground ...

... country in Europe to live. The sales tax here is 25 %, so no more complaining about the GST! They also pay between 40 and 50 % income tax. Food is very expensive. An example would be a bottle of Heinz ketchup is 40 Krone which translates to about $9 Canadian. Thankfully the tasty treat at the bakery is only 15 krones - go figure.

We enjoyed another game of mini-golf in Hasmark and then spent some time at the beach. We also ...

...to Denmark.
The original plan was to drive all the way to Copenhagen and stay on a campsite there. But since it rained and rained and rained, we decided to stop earlier and have a good rest before heading to Copenhagen and meeting up with Laurents & Iris at the airport there. We were lucky and found a really nice campsite right at the beach with a view of the Storebaelt Bridge :-)

Andersen museum. Apparently, the girls really liked it. I thought it was a horribly set up museum made up of 50 text panels. I don't go to museums to READ for hours on end.
