... to take the girl on the lawn with you when you go".
The park on the island is going to be beautiful when the town is done working on it. We sort of took over the pavillion. We streched out our mattress pads to sit on to eat and then took naps. Carmen took out her sleeping bag for the sun to dry up the moisture. A cop drove by and looked at us weird and drove off, Alexis thinks some ...
... all the towns/cities in Canada have outside patios!) Taking a look at Kingston from the visitors and downtown development perspective, it needs some sprucing up. Litter was a major problem and unkempt green spaces did not add to the ambiance. On a positive note, our waiter was very friendly and was a good spokesperson for general information about the colleges and ...
Kingston, Ontario, Canada laura3849... of the way back was the Fort Henry Hill, a natural elevation, used strategically by the military, two hundred years ago as protection and a look out point. This is a long steep hill to climb and by the top my thighs and knees were burning. However, we pushed on and finished the final 6km. The last 500m of our trip was a long downhill slope which cooled and refreshed us after the 5 hour ride.
I was thinking it would be great to do this again next weekend!
May 8 When we woke up this morning the hostel was freezing. According to our guide we apparently only pay enough for a couple of hours of heat in the evening - idiot! The fire had gone out too so even the common room was cold. We were up early again and went for a peaceful walk along the shoreline and saw sheep on tiny islands - we were relieved when we drove by later and saw that the sheep could roam once the tide went out. We drove over to a beach nearby. There are ...
Isle of Skye, United Kingdom jae... my arm from the bed I can almost touch the shower stall. Beside it is the toilet - it sort of has 2 little swing out doors, but they hit your knees if you close them while you're on the toilet. We figured out that our room use to be a washroom - they took out the sinks and put a bunk bed in! Kind of scuzzy, but clean enough, and the price includes breakfast and dinner. We showered before we went for dinner. Partly to get off some of the filth that accumulated on ...
London, United Kingdom jaeSenica and I went for along and scenic drive through rural roads to Westport. We saw lots of lakes and stopped for dinner in the small tourist town of Westport where the Big Rideau Lake meets Wolf Lake. We climbed Foley's mountain after dinner and had a nice lookout over the town. Then we meandered through the quiet streets before driving home.
Westport, Ontario, Canada lollyIt was time to start heading back towards Toronto but there was still time for one final stop off at Kingston near 1000 islands, which is a place where there are islands. Guess how many? About 1800. Ha, tricked you. We jumped on board for a 2 hour scenic trip which meandered between a fair few of the 1800. We went past Boldt Castle on Heart Island which was built by George Boldt, who was owner of the Waldorf-Astoria, as a labour of love for his wife. Bit of a tragic end to the ...
Kingston, Ontario, Canada paulleck1975Senica and I took a long drive today. It was lovely to explore the area. We were definitly travelling on the scenic route. I have never seen Wolfe Lake before, nor driven all the way around Devil Lake. We had a lovely dinner for two at a Greek Restaurant in Wesport.
Westport, Ontario, Canada lolly... I will most probably expand on the subject in later emails. Road side signs: "Honest Injun Tourist Trap" - Located in front of a store in a small town along Lake Michigan. Looks like they sell trinkets and stuff that says "Anytown, USA". Not much use for the stuff but collect dust and get thrown in the garbage after a few years. A sign that brings meaning to the old adage of truth in advertising. "Prison Area-Do Not Pick Up Hitchhikers" - It's illegal in the first ...
