We stopped at the port of Corfu. The only way to really get around the island is to take an excursion. At least it was for us. We were going to see a Monastery in the village of Palaiokastritsa and to the village of Gastouri to visit the 19th century Achilleion Palace.

We were told that from the bus stop we could get another bus heading back down south to Sarande, where we had already booked accommodation for two nights, that would cost us a further €10. I asked how long it would be until the bus would depart. '5 and half hour,' he told me. This was not good news, we were both ...

... after this maybe I should be careful what I wish for! After deciding against going to Gjirokaster in the same day because of the heat, the driver spent the whole of the journey basically telling me how Gjirokaster was like heaven on earth, while the passengers in the back found great enjoyment on wagering weather I would be persuaded or not! He did take a break in his sales pitch to tell me about how the stretch of road we were on has many casualties because drivers ...
