We stayed at this park because it's a Passport America Park, and easy in/out with full hookups. Unfortunately, it's really not at ALL well-maintained, just dusty, dirty, sites are never cleaned (we had dried dog poop right outside our door when we got there - ugh!). But for an overnight, it's good enough.

We arrived at the Mary Gibbs Visitor Center and walked the 800 feet or so to the headwaters of the Mississippi at the north end of Lake Itasca. ... it did open. The only thing it had going for it was gas stations. There were a lot of those.
We stopped for the night in Turtle River State Park. A gorgeous little place way off in the woods. It is just outside a city called Arvilla which is located just west of Grand Forks. Our last night in North Dakota looks to be peaceful and beautiful.

... on the road...and upright. We got to Grand Forks and they had the part he needed...so, purchase in hand, we decided to push through to Devil's Lake, ND to get a site for the night. I did a query on the GPS and found a site close to hiway 2, which we were travelling on. I should have looked closer...the site was on the far side of the lake and required driving 40 kms around the lake to get there.
