Un'ora esatta e sono a Firenze: no acqua e no traffico; in senso contrario, qualche moto di rientro dal GP del Mugello.

... min walk battling peak hour crowds going other way to Hotel California- 69€ for good size room with lift. Modern minimal decor in rooms- converted old apartment building. Dinner at restaurant next to hotel, good zuppa ******i and pasta, my gnocchi were a bit stodgy with very rich tomato paste, and steamed veg over cooked. Entertaining young Albanian waiter/spruiker. Best I have seen. Cost reasonable ...

So when we were planning our trip and knew we'd be spending some time touring Tuscany, I suggested we drive to Volterra and Montepulciano, as they were right in the heart of Tuscany. He agreed. Why those two cities? Well, in the novels, the Volturi, the evil clan of vampires who rule the undead world, live deep beneath the earth in the Tuscan town ...

We held off heading into town in the hope that the rain would stop but it never did. We did make it into town eventually and had a nice meal. Kieran tried the local dish of wild boar. Nice meal but the serving sizes were to small and we both left still feeling hungry.

... If walking is not iyour vocabulary there is also a bus up to Siena. Being the little fitness fanatics that we are . in need of a lot of work we walked and walked and walked up to the town around the town up stairs to bell towers and look outs in and out of cathedrals and churches in general, down alleyways and roadways around and around the town. I think I have just about worn out a pair of shoes just in Siena alone, but it was worth it. The sights and history ...
