Another Big Adventure -- Bear Viewing

... Homer. On the one hour flight we saw Mount Redoubt, Mount Iliamna, and Mount Augustine, all active volcanoes in Lake Clark National Park. We could also see Douglas and Four Peaks Mountains, the boundary and gateway into Katmai. This is a very different area of Katmai than we were in the other day. As we approached Hallo Bay, our pilot started pointing out bears on the ground. The scenery was a ...

Incredible view!

... hostess warm, we cooked our dinner in the large kitchen, enjoyed the view at the living room. Before bed, we took a drive to the spit. A lot of cars on the street, but few people on the street. I heard from somewhere (I forgot) that these people who drove cars there were on boats. It's 11 p.m. but sun still shone on us. My body couldn't adjust to it. So I felt dizzy.<br>

Bad Weather Moved In

... to the eagle feeding, but with the bad lighting getting good pictures was difficult. We left as soon as the eagle feeding was done, and made our way to the Hopped Up Espresso which advertised free wi-fi. We spent some time there. We checked our email and I finally got my blog truly up and running. We also enjoyed some coffee which warmed us ...

... LOL. But it is true that my summer is at an end and the sooner the better! My mind and body have broken down at an alarming rate over the last month and i probably only have about 70% use of my right hand due to arthritis/carpal tunnel or a pinched nerve or something....either way i really cant make a fist half the time so thats pretty unpleasant. so funny little story for everyone and this should convey just how ...

Anchor Point and Homer

... there. We did see a ring-necked pheasant across the way. Then on a quick drive down toward the spit we spotted a bull moose in the slough. He didn't stay long. I guess he was camera shy. After a birthday dinner of chicken cordon blue, we went looking for eagles on the spit and found a couple just sitting around. We picked up ice cream sandwiches for our birthday celebration. Tomorrow will be our last day in Homer and top on the list is to do laundry.

one............two...............THREE??????!!!!!!

... can have while traveling but if i have to choose between the two, traveling is going to win hands down. on the cool news front, my sister is coming out to homer for a few weeks for a mini vacation. she's not really coming here to hang out with me so to speak since i work like a hebrew slave but i set her up with a friends spare cabin and another friends spare vehicle so it became very affordable for ...

Homer

... with gay abandon from anywhere they liked! Fortuantely the crew seemed to have infinite patience and managed to mostly keep on top of things. It turned out that halibut fishing is actually relatively easy and sadly quite dull. It involves chucking your weighted line off the boat, letting it sink as fast as possible until it hits the bottom, waiting until something bites (generally about 2 minutes) and pulling it up. It requires absolutely no skill at all as the halibut ...

Homer Spit

... the Kenai Peninsula are mountains and volcanoes that are part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. One erupted a few years ago coating Kodiak Island and Anchorage in fine ash. Homer was lucky that time. But Homer was not always lucky. In 1964, a 9.2 Earthquake rocked the area, dropping the Spit into the ocean and reconstructing the landscape. The city recovered and rebuilt the Spit. Danger still remains though, not just ...

... I'm 32 ****ing years old, what the hell am i doing?" Luckily the ying (positive) is 2/3's bigger then the yang so all is not lost. other developments in the life of Neal include the gathering of a second job that starts in a few days. this should put me at about 90 hours a week which will be enough to allow me to afford a few luxuries while also pushing me into insanity....i think of it as the bonus package. who really wants to work THAT much? in the end ...
