... We were glad to have stayed near Edinburgh and not Glasgow, although I'm sure it's a great city with lots to offer.

Our flight from Glasgow to Reykjavik was set to leave around 1:55pm, which meant we had a bit of time to kill at the airport but having a quick lunch, getting checked-in, through security and all ...

Prestwick is a wee town where my mum was born. The view from the train was misty skies, rough oceans and many long, green golf courses! It took just under an hour to get there and stepping out into the rain we wandered into the town.

Saturday was another chance to spend a little more time with the family before I left, sharing a nice dinner and watching some good ol' Saturday night X-Factor. Sunday was a bittersweet day - another lovely day with the family but the day that I had to say goodbye to my brother, sister, nephews and brother-in-law for the next 2 months. Making it more emotional were the wonderful gifts I received - especially a notebook full of messages ...
