... have left the city behind. Surrounded by forests it has this quaint country town feel to it. I'm in for a treat, tonight is the one night of the year that the shops stay open late. Now I know most of you are thinking, oooooooohooooooooo, shops are open late at home all the time but here is a different pace of life. The focus is really on that work/life balance with the shift more to life. People here don't want to have to work to live. Come on, as the creators of the sauna these ...

Porvoo is the second oldest town in Finland. I have been waiting to go there since I arrived in Finland but was waiting for a spring day. After an extra hours sleep due to a time change we got up and sorted ourselves out for our shore excursion. Today is the start of the summer solstice celebrations in Finland which last 3 days so most of the businesses were closed. Went through to Porvoo and there were a few shops open. bought a few souviners there and back at the port before reboarding our ship. Now we have 2 days at sea before ...

... best recommendation so far is for Lungi, which we were told roughly means "relax." Dishes ordered by our table: salmon salad, braised pork sandwiches, French fries, gin and tonic, wine, beer. This place has a great comfortable, but fun vibe thanks to its layout reminiscent of the mainfloor of a house, eclectic music, art and furnishings. We've compared it to our favourite Edmonton spot, The Next Act.
