... centuries B.C., the Acropolis was the main religious site for the ancient city of Athens. The temple of Athena Nike (the patron Goddess of the city) as well as the Parthenon served as pilgrimage sites for hundreds of years. The numerous buildings were part of a walled city that was used as the main garrison for the city during any attacks as well.

We were so fortunate to have visited the Acropolis when we did because it was virtually empty while we took our ...

... the sunset. It was the perfect last sunset in the most beautiful place we've visited yet! For dinner, we ate at our final rooftop restaurant. At long last, we found Lolita's Gelateria, rated the best on the island. It did not disappoint - the zabione was to die for! Tomorrow we head to Rome! ... on the first night. And the again on Monday night. The first one was a emblem shaped thing, with the names of two girls from his dorm on it (who he'd only met that day!), Emma and Steph. Then the second one was dedicated to his new New Zealand friends, Eve, Luke and another dude, Luke's brother, with their names and a map of New Zealand. He's Australian too. He must have been wasted. At the time he thought it was pretty funny, but I wonder ...

      Highlight of the cruise!

We started the day with a donkey ride to Fira town. Plodding slowly up the hill gave us time to admire the gorgeous view. We met Joe's friend Andonio (Greek Coast Guard) and spent about an hour with him in a trendy cafe. Then Andonio called his friend who owns a car rental company to do him a favor and let us borrow a car for the day (free of charge). So, for the 20 Euros of gas we put ...
