... We were headed for the ancient ruins of Thira. We couldn't get in because it closes at 2.30pm each day and we were half an hour past that time. It looked worthy of another visit so we decided to come back the next day.
We drove back down the mountain then along the beachfront at Kamari, noting the numerous trendy bars (all closed) and cafes (all closed bar 3 or 4). We continued along the waterfront for as long as we could until the road diverted us back inland. It ...
... buildings with stunning caldera backdrops that you will need another memory card. It took us almost an hour to reach the village of Imerovigli, another town perched impossibly on the top of the cliffs. Although there was nothing open in this town except the supermarket, this allowed us to get the water we needed (but not the coffee stop we craved...)
We were told that the walk to Oia is two hours, but the literature (once we read it) said 3 hours. We took more than four ...
... put up with this for a week? A very convenient store is right next door so we have stocked up on essentials~ beer (Mythos), wine Vedema) oh and some food too. Met our first few cats on our evening stroll and checked out the pool in preparation for the week's activities.
I'm sure there will be a few photos to follow!
... able to meet lots of cool people at our hostel (Ryan as we've already mentioned) as well as two different groups of guys from West Virginia and Yale. We also randomly ran into a guy who we had hung out with our last night in Athens. It's crazy how that happens when you're traveling throughout Europe. We even have plans to meet up with him in Rome as we'll be there for one night of his stay. Like I said, yesterday our bodies hated us for the abuse they took in Mykonos ...

Today, we decided to get up early to watch the sun rises from the black sand beach. We had to get up by 5:00!! @_@
We waited and waited, and we still couldn't see the sun even though the surroundings are a little brighter already.
Well, I might ...

We woke up quite early to get to the airport. And we decided to try the McDonald's in Greece. I'm glad we did. We have the greatest Frappe in Greece at McDonald's! Imagine you order a cup of coffee, and instead of putting cream, you put Vanilla Sundae into it! Wow, the combination is soo sooo good! We should try it out back home!

... going up a hill ...we might have to get off and push, so we got two bike instead of one. We went to a lighthouse for great views, then off to a random beach we found along the way. We went down a dirt / rocky road it was scary going down, but I made it...just barely. We found these cool houses set into the rocky hillside...they were carved into the rock. A couple of guys were building one as we were walking along the beach, very ...
Santorini, Greece kristinj... was Wes Benson. He was in the grade ahead of me at school, and was more of a risk taker than I was. One day he borrowed a new moped from an older kid and came by my house. Using language that motivated me as a slightly younger, impressionable, testosterone driven high school friend, he convinced me to partake with him in what would surely be an exciting adventure. The plan was for both of us to saddle up on the moped, slam on the accelerator until we got to full ...
