    ... A helpful woman explained that it was a sake tasting festival- you bought a sake cup then could taste as many sakes as you wanted from local producers from 12.30 - 4.30pm. There must have been around 50 sakes on offer! We bought a variety of food - we have no idea what some of it was- some was great - others very weird.     ... There is very little luggage space on the train so good thing we only had 1 bag. The train took us north towards the Alps. Soon we were surrounded by snowy peaks and frosty roofs. The blossom trees got better & better as obviously the cooler weather means a later season. At our hotel in Matsumoto we have a Japanese style room.     ... you can gather from the snowblower pictured, but temps really aren't too bad. Right at freeing for today. I guess an area that hosted the Winter Olympics would have to have some snow in February! Food is incredible.
