Tourist-ing Out in Tenerife

A travel blog entry by mike_erin

On a (very) early Saturday morning we checked out of our hotel in Nantes wearing ski jackets and flew to the south side of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Ski jackets were quickly traded for shorts, flip flops and sunburnt British tourists as apparently we had arrived in the Mexico of Europe! After locating our hotel we decided to rent a car for our first week. I was tentative because after all, we hadn't driven at all for five months now but Mike was confident so we went and picked ...

... a ship in the morning and when we were getting back to the ship that afternoon, to see them finish and take off immediately. Before we left, another ship docked in its place.

The high speed car ferries make regular trips to other islands. The docks are so long that a bus picks you up at the ship and takes you to the street at the beginning of the dock for 4 euros. We decide to walk it. We decided to forego any shore excursions ...

Back to the airport to return the car 18.15 in plenty of time for the flight to Leeds-Bradford at 20.15. It's the last flight to leave tonight and actually slightly early. We land around 00.30 and are home by 01.00. Not tired so we put the first lot of washing on before bed at 02.15. What a great winter break, days ill be longer nod snowdrops out ...

We drive a little further south in the park to see the dramatic roque formations near the Parador before returning down the mountain to Puerta de la Cruz. We complete the town walk we started on Wednesday, surprisingly a very pretty plaza behind such a tourist ...

La Laguna, Santa Cruz, San Juan de la Rambla

A travel blog entry by valfinucane

A relatively early start by 10.00 to arrive in La Laguna in time for the start of the local football match between. La Laguna and Lanzerote. It's in a much larger stadium than last week and the football is of a better standard, a league above, but it lacks the local atmosphere, the result 2-1 to the home side is a fair result. We wander back into town and explore the old capital. It has some fine 18th century buildings set in a perfect grid so flat and easy to follow! We stop ...
