... traffic jam and going nowhere. I would have fallen asleep except other boats kept crashing into the side of ours. On the train on the way home a local woman started chatting to me. After a while she invited me round for tea the next day. The locals are so friendly and I think it´s partly because there don´t seem to be very many tourists - everywhere I went I seemed to be the only gringo. Unfortunately I had to turn down the offer of tea as were leaving town the next morning.

So ...
Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico lizzyletloose... up getting out and taking a leak in front of a fully occupied passenger bus, although only the drinking was part of the dare).

We made it back to the center of Mexico city four soggy hours later, where we picked up Kisiev`s very enthusiastic mom at her workplace (she`d brought a bag of cookies and soda to perk us up). She took us to a middle-east themed taco join called DonEraki, where we ate grilled steak with onions, peppers, and sheets of ...
Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico dylbeano... orrore.
Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico annoiatissima... British Airways flight crew were not allowed to leave. This, not surprisingly, caused us to reconsider our plan to walk straight through the mob, and the driver of the LA group´s van agreed to give us a ride to our hotel.

From there, the story is calm. We returned to the hotel, changed our clothes, and cleaned up a bit, grabbed dinner, and caught the metro to catch our bus to Oaxaca. And so, we´re on to our next adventure. Or better yet --to relax and recover from this one.
Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico kimandjohn... mounted machine guns on the roof and guns everywhere so we decided to move on. We braved a dodgy burger place downstairs from our hotel for dinner - which wasn´t good - but did not make us sick. Found a fancy bar which was playing MGMT, Franz Ferdinand and the Dead Kennedies so we had some beer there before heading back to the hotel for "Dr. House" (and I wonder, why haven´t I watched it before? It is really good).
Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico greensintransit... loads of entertainment taking photos of us on them. We then headed down to a market to have a look around. I kept finding myself buying more gifts despite the fact that I have absolutely no space left in my bags. It wasn't long afterwards that we discovered an internet café and ended up spending about one and a half hours on the internet catching up with the world. It was great just to get in touch with everyone and let them know that we were alive. Dinner in Mexico ...
Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico vermaakjeanne... pistols and sombrero's donned with guitars to serenade the many people that came to the square on an evening! We think this all started quite late though so unfortunately we saw no serenading, just men hanging around in costumes chatting and smoking, probably dreading another night of serenading competition! Finally walking home was the best transport for me so we continued on feeling starving as the only problem with Mexico so far is that transport is 4-5 ...
Teotihuacan, Mexico nikandads2008... turned the lights on in our room the cockroaches hid. Now, cockroaches are okay, we can deal with them, but sleeping in a bed that has other people's hair in it, and ******** in a toilet with other people's pubic hairs on it - not so fun. We explained to them that the room was disgusting and that it didn't appear to have been cleaned - I don't think they cared too much. We decided to sleep with the lights on to keep the cockroaches out of site - but when we woke up ...

Mexico City, Mexico cinema4... peak time (in other words sleep in). The next day involved an early start to the local bus that goes to Tiotihuacan, the place of the gods. Its about 50 kilometers from Mexico City. This place is a must see. The temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon are majestic. The pyramid of the Sun was built in about AD 150 and within about 700 years the place was abandoned. Ats it high point there was estimated ...
