Yesterday was a very long day filled with travel. We started the day early by flying out of Santorini to Athens. We planned a very long layover so that we could leave the airport and see Acropolis. That was a pretty neat structure and the view of the city from up there was really something. It looks like a really huge city. We stopped for lunch in Athens and I was able to finally get a gyro, although it wasn't like the gyro I know ...

... height: normal;">It is interesting dynamics to observe and as I am sitting quite comfortably on my 12th floor balcony I can enjoy it. Being a part of it is not as fun! The cathedral of Valencia was open, so we had a look and then climbed the stairs to the top of the tower, and were ...

... take our sweet time and head off around 11. The bus is coming at around 1 so we get ourselves some Spanish omelettes for brekky and some more freshly squeezed OJ from a café around the corner. The suns back out and we head to a park just round the corner from the pickup and read our books till the bus comes around. I personally fell asleep watching a homeless man bathe in the fountain but he was using soap so good for him and his cleanliness.

    Until next time ...

    World Cup Time!

A travel blog entry by dememarie on Jun 14, 2014

It is World Cup time here in Europe and people are gearing up for the celebrations and declarations of nation pride. I for one have no interest in soccer, but it seems to be the most important thing here because the excitement is mounting and the grocery stores are packed with people getting game day snacks. I am more fascinated by the people who are watching the game than the actual game itself. It reminds of the super bowl back ...
