12 August The other day, while we were sitting on the beach, we watched a group of blokes build a platform out of scaffolding pipe and clamps. We had no idea what they were doing and were even more bemused when they picked it up (there was about twenty of them by this stage) and carried it into the water. Watching them position and adjust it in the water was great sport. Not sure how many OH&S rules were ignored as they picked it up jiggled ...

6 September All went well on the crossing from Naples. Kids slept well and nobody fell out of their bunks. Very early start, though, as the ferry docked at 6.30am.
