... but they totally messed up the order for the other couple while we were still waiting. Both couples left and we were still waiting. The couple whose order they messed up left after only having a salad obviously to go somewhere else. When out meal finally came it was nice but it doesn't take an hour to cook a piece of fish and a piece of chicken! The caponata was ...

After a cup of tea and some fruit we headed off to explore. The rain from last night had gone and the sun was shining. The old centre is supposed to be pedestrian only but there were a surprising number of cars and even more motor bikes so it wasn't as relaxing to walk around as I had imagined. When I went to open the shutter this morning the cord broke and with an almighty crash down it came. We then had quite a wait at the station but it was ok. The train trip was fine. Lots of people were waiting on the platform but it was quite a big train so not too crowded. We passed ...

Another beautiful morning. Breakfast was served at 8.30 with croissants, lemon cake, honey dew, fruit juice, yoghurt etc etc..a full spread! Now driving to Palermo which is the capital of Sicily. Could not find parking so drove around like a city taking in all the sights. Decided to go to the Montepellegrino Santa Rosalia Church. Went back into Palermo and found parking, less ...

          Day 32 - Exploring Cefalu & Palermo

Our aim for today was to finish off exploring around Cefalu and then to catch the train for the one hour journey from Cefalu to spend a quick couple of hours in Palermo. Cefalu is located on the North East coast of Sicily and is only 70 kilometres, or in our case a one hour train ride, out of the capital city of Palermo. It has a population of around 14,000 but apparently sees millions from all over Europe visiting during the European summer holiday season ...
