Just recovering from jet lag. Yesterday we found out they weren't kidding when they said everything closes down for a siesta! Having a great time.Love to all.

... any of it though so I ate a fallafel at a place we have in philadelphia called Maoz Meal, and felt very happy.<br>That night for dinner we had more cold soup this time with small shrimp and some bread. Another guest in the homestay joined us- a german boy my age. He and the australian woman spoke spanish the whole time and I tried my best to understand and add a little of what I knew how to say to the conversation. Ana continually asked us if everything was ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands hippietraveler... than a kilometer long. We decided we would need to streamline the process a little and only look at things that were genuinely interesting, but not look too closely at anything, so after we went though the entire market (seriously, the entire market), we regrouped and only went back to the things we liked so much we still remembered them. Kaitlin ended up with a nice scarf, and I got a little ring-holder that looks like a high-heeled shoe. Right after we made our purchases ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain deena.cowans... Big 2 and Durak, Pierce's karaoke story, "I just want to sing", the animal noises conversation, quark-quark haroo-haroo cock-a-doodle-doo, dancing salsa and impressing everyone, dancing like lunatics in boca del lobo to odd jazz fusion, getting drunk on sangria playing kings cup and falling asleep sitting up until the russian came to put me to bed. The magician who did cool tricks and awkward conversations. The alternative guided tour including secret underground ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain martin84... I was pretty exhausted from traveling. Nevertheless, we engage in as much conversation as we can, essentially holding our own and being comprehensible to our new family members. We finally go exploring a little bit and get some phone minutes and photos for our Metro Passes that we will receive tomorrow. While in the phone place (just pretty much a local corner internet/phone spot), one man happens to be looking at porn on one of the computers (thought it was a ...
Madrid, Spain jakester21... at my arrival to Spain, was the Carnaval of Madrid...there are parades in the streets of all the cultures that are here: bolivianos, colombianos, mexicanos, españoles, árabes , all of them dancing in the street with their tipical costumes. During a week there are different events: Costumes day, Combat between Don Carnal y Doña Cuaresma (lent), The Sardine bury....jajaja...and more events....that was a very nice wellcome to Madrid!!!
Madrid, Spain eschipres... worse, but nothing like gratis! Seeing both museums in one day was a lot to digest. The Prado is one of the best museums in Europe with a spectacular ensemble of artists and then Anna Sophia with Picasso's famous Geurnica. Doing both back to back, it was around 3 pm when we finally had lunch and then a nap. My brain was packed full of every art movement since the 1100's. Extremely impressed with Anna Sophia, I felt, I needed to go back a few ...
Madrid, Spain ksunderhill... which sucks for me because I really like them. We usually have fruit for dessert after lunch (the biggest meal) and sometimes a salad an lunch, which basically consists of lettuce with oil and vinegar dressing. The food here is very plain, something not a lot of people realize. Breakfast is very small in Spain, I always have hot chocolate and toast at around 10. Lunch isn't until at least 2, and dinner around 9 or 10. I'm definitely missing the variety of American ...
Sevilla, Spain travelinbadger... I had better get an audio guide so that someone could explain it all to me. Good thing I did, because boy oh boy was some of the stuff weird. One artist only painted in blue. Just the one shade of blue. Kind of hard to distinguish anything when the canvas is just totally blue. So he also painted objects. Completely blue. He even went so far as to rename the shade of blue that he used after himself. I'd like to call this kind of painting 'Conceitism'. But by far the ...
Madrid, Spain tokyo_cate... the room next door but seduced her men from her convertible which she parked right below our window. The next day she very kindly offered to show us around Porto (which was much nicer by daylight) in her car but somehow we ended up at a Casino watching her throw away her earnings from the night before. As a result of this, and because she wanted to stop for an icecream on the way back, I came very close to missing my train to Madrid. But I ...
