... water fountians of different shapes and sizes along the way. It ended in a large park dedicated to the steel industry. Sounds ugly, but there were more free museums, and it was actually pretty (except for the large furnace stacks).

Heading back to the bus stop, and thinking we perhaps should have booked an earlier bus out of town, we started poking around looking for a resturant for dinner. Oddly enough, all the ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico kimandjohnThe whole stay here has just been strange. The first morning here I preached in a church - in spanish! First time since 2006! Even though I took out my guages and put in clear spacers, they asked me to take them out, as well as my eyebrow ring. They said I need to be "all things to all men" although that is not what it is talking about. The ministry gave us a nice little apartment for 5 days (full of cockroaches) in a ...
Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico robandmillieI am sitting here in the middle of Monterrey, Mexico. There is an air conditioner to my right and a clock ticking away to my left. All I can think about at this time is, "This is not what we came here for".
Rob is downstairs, having a meeting with the ministry whose base we are currently staying on. We arrived to the border of Mexico on Saturday morning. Starting at the Brownsville border, we bussed four and a half ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico millieradostiWe spent a great 5 days in Monterrey. A really lovely city, different to what we expected. Its an industrial town so we expected factories etc but they are all in the suburbs. The city is suurounded by a beautiful backdrop of mountains that the locals are very proud of and very much represent their city. However, the best thing about Monterrey was the people we met. Of ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico dixieannie... most of the other people were wearing t-shirts and jeans. Got through immigration and customs, which took so long that both my baggage and I almost didn't make it to Monterrey on time. Thank God we did. Monterrey is breaktakingly beautiful. It is surrounded by the mountains, la Sierra Madre. Everywhere you look, there are mountains. You can also easily see the influence from its northern neighbor. Just about everything ...

It's the last time I'll ever take a red-eye flight after drinking with friends and my father at the airport :P Tequila is fun, not before a flight. ha. Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico jhaddonWonderful to see big Jon's smiling face at the airport. Elias and Myrna Valdez also were here to meet us. Jon had just arrived from Houston. Monterrey is a sprawling city of 3.5 million. third largest in Mexico, but by far th most advanced. A 45 minute drive takes us to the home and convention grounds. Very special to have a night with Elias & Myrna, and her sister Angelita who lives with them, plus E. & M.'s ...
Monterrey, Mexico tstewy... with Luisa and Ricardo in tow on the Friday. We were due to stay the weekend with one of Luisa´s friend Farah. There, we mainly socialized. On the Friday night, we went out in a little city near Monterrey called San Pedro, which is the hometown of the wealthiest people in Mexico and possibly the Americas. We waited thirty minutes to get into "thee" pub (I HATE QUEUING!)and in the end, we only got in on the promise that "we were Irish and would drink a lot." It was a nice ...
