Fernie fun in the snow

... a closet in the condo, look it up sometime, it will amaze you!!

The next morning it was extremely sad to say goodbye to our new friends Adam & Laura. It is not that often that you met such sound people, both could make us laugh so easily and we had great times together. I am sure we will stay in touch for many years, especially now that Kristina is addicted to Facebook!! So we waved goodbye, and set sail for Edmonton to meet Kristina’s mum!

Trout fishing and golf

This little town ranks right up there with our favourites. We looked at buying property here two years ago, but since the folks fron Calgary have discovered it , prices have gone thru the roof. what used to be $15000 ten years ago is more like $500000 now, crazy.

Heading back to the US

Crossed the Rockies, left Jasper National Park behind as we travel through the Kootenay region, past Fort Steele and stop at Cranbrook. Hope the truck is ready as promised tomorrow, we will drive to Kalispell once more and re-visit Eureka MT on the way. What gorgeous weather we have been granted!

Fort Steele

... a Mountie who was based here to resolve issues between the local aboriginal tribe and settlers back in the 19th Century.  It is beside the river that the miners had to cross during the gold rush time and started to build on this geograhic position.  However it was initially favoured as a stopping point for the railway network but this did not come off and the residents dwindled away and  the Fort had become a ghost town.  interesting enough my parents visited Fort Steele ...

My old home, ski bum memories

The start of the trip was interesting. It started off on a beautiful morning but the ****ing the gps cracked! Had to stop in at gps central to buy a new one. Then we were on the road, well actually the motorway, negotiating on off ramps while cars motored passed at 100 +. Once we were out of the city limits the road narrowed to two lanes and the side lane widened. We peddle out to our first town, Cochrane 45miles, pulled up under some big pines with lush ...

A Tough Initiation - The Cowboy Trail

... Store, its wooden porch guarded by the black silhouette of a plywood cowboy. I stopped in to buy some jerky - dried morsels of chewy salted beef - before resuming my journey south. There would be no more stores for another one hundred and twenty kilometres. The highway climbed steeply away from the prairie, entering a cleft between twin ranges of low hills before dropping down into a broad empty valley ranged by shaggy black cattle. Signs of human habitation were few and ...

... at the mountain and has been having fun at the training particulary with practising evacuations from the lifts. I have started in the rental department, it is a good team and looks like it will be fun. Hard work too, we can get school groups up to 150 in number and it is ******* the hands fitting all the boots and getting the gear right. We can wait for the season to start Dec 10th!!!

Exploring BC

... dude! He showed me some beautiful spots. I pitched my tent in the bush and the next day I went fishing for one hour (no licence) but no fish on my plate... I couldn't really get out of Hope, took me ages so I decided to take the buss to Vancouver (150km). Another big city, luckily I have my chinese visum not for nothing... a lot of Asian people are here. I found a cheap doggy hostel down town and I will check some breweries, some beaches, Stanly parc and the gay parade.

... of all your rent includes free pancakes each morning till 10 o'clock. At the end of April Stew and I were hanging out in Kimberley and making friends with Sean, Rob, Audra and Kate, their dogs Purple, Sam, Gunner and Bear. The group of us had a rad time at Kimberley Spring Splash closing weekend. There was live music and a dummy launch and crazy mountain bike race, one extreme dude came down the slopes on a unicycle! The locals have ...
