First day in Singapore

We stayed in fern loft hostel which was nice. The lady who ran it was very helpful and friendly. Quite basic but the rooms had air con which was great! We stayed in a dorm with about 10 other people. Woke up monday morning as i heard mark come into the room (he flown in from India where he had been for a month). So got up and had a catch up with him as i hadnt seen him for ages. Once we got ready we headed out into singapore for some food. Had a burger for lunch so that was very different not...

History Lesson

The next day we got ready and then headed out. Looked around then got some food in chinatown. I had some sea food rice. The place we went to did amazing fruit drinks the pineapple one was lush! After lunch we all got cameras from a shop. After much haggling we got them for a decent price, he came down 118S$ on the original price, After that we decided we would check out the Singapore national musuem. Took us awhile to get there as we walked the wrong way along the road so we had to got back o...

Arggghhh....the heat!

After a long (12 hours) and uncomfortable flight from Frankfurt to Singapore we entered the stifling heat that is typical of a country on the equator. The kind of heat where by just standing still, you ooze sweat. Not a pretty mental picture is it? After just one very sleepless night (jetlag) at the hostel we had booked for in Singapore we spent the next morning looking for a new hostel. While excellently located in the vibrant and colourful area of Chinatown, the guy who ran the hostel was o...

Our last stop in SE asia and World Cup blues!

We caught the very luxurious VIP bus from KL to Singapore, we thought it was very appropriate that our last bus ride in Asia was on the swankiest bus we'd ever seen, we had our very own TV, Sony Playstation, and full electric reclining seats. Having travelled pretty much most of our 20 week journey from Hong Kong to Singapore by bus, we certainly enjoyed our last and rather sad road trip in Asia to Singapore. Singapore consists of one main island and 63 other tiny islands and most of these is...

Mojo United!

Day two and a bit in Singapore and I realised I had been lax with updating this travel blog!! The last day in Bangalore was all round pretty crazy and really summed up our love/hate relationship with India! Unable to procure a cheese cloth for making our own paneer (the shop was shut cos it was a Tuesday, obviously) we launched off in an auto with Sissel for our final attack on the MG Road area. After a couple of beers we were informed that all bars would be shutting at 4, and then we were to...

City of Lion

I: Singapore, which means City of Lion, is just what you've always thought or heard it to be; skycrapers, good shopping (centers) and quite western manners - except for the few bit too stricy laws, like, no chewing gum allowed. But we didn't smuggle too much chewing gum into the country, so we didn't get caught ;) We spent only two days in Singapore, and at first it felt maybe a bit too civilised compared to India's raggedness. It also felt a bit too chinese in the beginning (neither of us is...

Singapore

Well.....we had a lovely but brief sojourn in Singapore. On our first morning we breakfasted and headed out to Orchard Road which is the Oxford Street of Singapore and hit the shops for a while. They had loads of beautiful things, but the Singapore dollar doesn't seem favourable to us at the moment - so after a quick refuelling stop at Starbucks we headed out to the MacRitchie Reservoir. Its a huge reservoir situated a little way out of the city and surrounded by thick forest - Singapore has...

Arrival in Singapore!

Ok, so the Tassie girl has finally left the Island.. yes, it took a bleeding long time but i'm here. Ok so i really don't have anything to complain about compared to travelling to Africa or London or the States, but it was soo boring, at least i had my travel pillow and my trusty dodgy jetstar ear plugs so i went sleepies alot. So i have just arrived in Singapore! its soo amazing flying over singapore at night, its surrounded my huge ships which are like lanterns in the water.. so pretty. I t...

Day 2 - You really don't need a hot water bottle h

So day two i thought i had pretty much mastered the transport system.. well unfortunately i hadn't because like day one i spent the morning getting lost. This time i ended up way out of town in a place surrounded by condominiums. luckly the bus driver pointd me in the right direction to the bus i was meant to catch. i really need to learn to read before i hope on!!! anyhow, first up, i extended my stay in the land of singapore till the 9th because you cannot get into malaysia till the pubic h...

Singapore!

... hint of motion from the baggage carousels that is, for me at least, as much a part of flying as actually getting on the plane are but a distant memory in Singapore. And it's not like we were slow getting off the plane (also very efficient) or getting through customs (literally two minutes); the ground crews were just that good. After a short drive through the city (and pretty much the entire country, for that matter) we arrived at our hotel, the beautiful ParkRoyal ...
