... we received our maps, info for the next stage to Vienna, it's almost an overload of information compared to what we got for our first stage! But there is a couple of town maps of Linz, Vienna etc which will be handy. Did our daily washing then had dinner in the Hotel restaurant, the servings were bloody enormous. I've never eaten so much salad in one ...

Wow, what a morning! The exhibits in the Gäubodenmuseum in Straubing were extraordinary; the Roman objects found buried there in 1950 are amazing! Metal breastplates, knee guards, shin guards, helmets, swords, silver coins etc in perfect condition. The Romans settled here in 70 AD and called the place "Sor-viodurum" The Danube trail is well signposted, we have only lost it several times, mostly entering or leaving a city. ...

Lots of crops in very good condition along the Danube here; wheat, barley, oats (a little), canola, rye, maize and a fodder crop that looked like silver beet.
