... Hohenschwangau first and enter at 9:50, after our 35 min guided tour we had to make our way to Neuschwanstein - downhill and up a very steep hill - by 12:05 precisely. No photos allowed inside either castle. Hohenschwangau was the family holiday home and still contains the original furnishings. Quite lovely and we noticed the walls were painted with murals rather than having family portraits as in ...

So not finding a carpark on the outside of the walled, historic town of Dinkelsbuhl, we drove right through the middle of it!! By the time ...

Our last morning in Munich was bright and clear after an overnight rain. We packed up and set out for Hohenschwangau (translated means the highlands of the swan). Hohenschwangau is the small village that is hometown to possibly the most famous castle(Schloss) in Germany, Neuschwanstein. It took about two hours to make the drive from Munich. Miles our navigator took the scenic route which proved to be a great opportunity for Kathy ...

... the castle, you can see 3 countries around the tops of this area; Switzerland, Austria and Germany. We also went and rented a paddle boat and relaxed on the beautiful lake that has views of both castles it was so peaceful. We finished a excellent day off with some traditional German food, bread dumplings and roast for me and deer goulash with homemade spätzle noodles for Dan :) Now to enjoy the rest of the night overlooking the castle from our hotel balcony ;) jealous yet!? Haha ...
