... as it rained quite heavily for a short while. Set off when it eased and soon it stopped. We really have been quite lucky with the rain today as we got to see the ravine and upper part of the valley before the mist came in and obscured it. Wind also got up a little, the first wind we have encountered on the walk, and was blowing the leaves off the trees at a rapid rate. Valley acted as a wind tunnel to some extent. Finally arrived back at Bad Ischl and called in to the ...

Friday 10th October Leisurely breakfast this morning and time to catch up on news before catching the bus to Bad Ischl, about 70 km east of Salzburg. Bus journey was through lovely green pastures with plenty of cattle grazing. Even saw some with bells on! Stopped at a lovely little village Fuschl on the most picturesque lake. Such an idyllic view. Bus only went as far as St Gilgen (on another lake) so had to wait about half an hour to ...

We visited the "man" and "women" island. Before we entered the palace with the timed guided tour, we visited Konig Ludwig II Museum. It was actually very nice, especially we knew something about his life after visiting the famed Newschwanstein. The museum had many pictures and even Ludwig II's death mask and photo. ...
