... out it is the bringing down of the cows from the highland holiday. It's a big celebration. These mountains are so steep there is no way the cows could be way up there and keep their footing or find food on the slopes in the winter months.

We stayed in a really nice little hotel in the town of Nüziders near Bludenz, Austria. These places are swamped during the ski season, ...

Today we left the buzz of the city and throngs of tourists behind and headed for the hills. Five hours later we settled in a lovely little town high in the alpine with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and valley below. And yes, the water was ...

    Wonderful Wildspitze

    Thursday 28 August

Moved on this morning, up the Pitztal valley, just south
of Imst. Went up to the Pitztal glacier, taking the Glacier Express(tunnel
train) followed Tyrol’s highest cable car to the restaurant at 3,440m, near the

fridge was clearly cutting in and out every 1-2 hours, in a “square tooth”
    fashion.

Headed off to Galtur where we did some shopping, talked

A Grumpy Old Man....and some great scenery

... Hutte (2320m). Excellent walk, lovely views and flowers. The
Hutte was large and busy, especially with mountainbikers, and provided
excellent food and accommodation. Lots of people on the walking route too, but
    nicely so.

May spend another night here, perhaps more. It is the
best campsite yet, and we need more like this. Spectacular views across the
tarn. All serious mountain tourists – and none of those nasty "ski ...
