The flat has central heating so is very cosy, a living room-lounge-kitchen, a bedroom with a double bed!(seems like single after our king) and a bathroom etc. the view from the balcony down the lake is superb. Unfortunately it has been overcast and rainy since we arrived so we have not seen it at its best yet. Some sun is on the way we hope! Our major disappointment has been to find ...

      Villach to Zagreb

... was reminded it was Sunday and nothing let alone the post office was open. Which was maybe a good thing as I window shopped through old town and saw way too many things I liked. Making my way back to the train station I met up with Ryan who was acting as a rail route planner for a Chinese tourist. We selected a baguette sandwich for lunch and then hopped into the hot train. About ten minutes in, the train stewart came to check our tickets and let ...

It turned out that 8 others in the group wanted to do the same thing as me today so we all rode together, with the tour leader and the backup van driver on the spare bike leading the way. First we went the twisty way to the Kobarid Museum where we had a local guide to explain what happened on the Soca Front in WW1 from 1915 until 1917 when the Italian and Austrian armies were fighting in the local ...

Cycled east from the campsite, in Obervellach, to the
nearby lake, Pressegger See, then on to Gortschach and Vorderberg. Looked at
the Naturbad at Vorderberg and then cycled back Moderndorf and Hermagor where
we had a well earned “triple scoop” of ice cream each at the Patisserie/café in
the town centre. Quite a long ride in all. Both tired.
