Today was our first (and only) day without cycling. After a late breakfast we set about the job of sight seeing in Ely. It is a lovely city with much to explore and we wiled away most of the day walking about the city and paying homage at Cromwell's House and also visiting the Ely museum.

From about the midway point of the ride we were able to see Ely cathedral in the distance, some 15-20 miles away. As you will see from my photos, Thursday was a cold and wet day in my part of England.
A bit of rain never stopped an intrepid traveller, so I headed out at 9am for a daytrip to Cambridge to see what I could see. Lorren helped me book the train tickets the night before and so all I had to do was be in time for the train and change trains half way there. By 11am I had arrived in Cambridge, and ...

Up early and left by 6.30am. There is still more to see here and another couple of days would have been good. Jim has done very well driving around all the narrow roads in Derek's big car and the satnav (Garmin) has been good. I have decided that the south east corner around Bakewell is, for me, the prettiest so we picked well.
We drove to Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre and had a walk to the famous Robin ...
