... this from a gal who has seen a lot of basilicas in my travels. Then it was off to my appointment with Scrovegni. I got lost. Three times. Finally found it. As mentioned the frescoes were amazing. Unfortunately no personal items, including cameras, are allowed inside (I even had to check my purse!). We arrived late yesterday due to flight control staff striking at Marco Polo airport in Venice. Our poor airbnb host called us worried while we waited at the baggage carousel at the airport. It took forever for us to get our bags and the yeah I finally got it.

'Duh, we just came from Amsterdam'. Of course it will take 47 minutes to get our bags. Getting to the boat taxi was relatively easy and we had a ewe wait before we got on the taxi. ...

... good about it. Although, when I asked for the check, the server assistant decided to joke with me and ask in English what I had said. A coy smile crept across his face, and he laughed himself away to retrieve the bill. What a joker... We lost ourselves in the dark and quiet alleyways of Venice, actually making a full circle at one point, but ultimately made it home to settle in for a long, peaceful night's rest. One more day in this ancient city on the water, and we plan to make the most of it! ...

... on Monday. Spent the rest of the afternoon wandering through the streets.Tonight we had the best dinner!! We shared a little cold cuts platter and I had a baked gnocchi for main and Rhett had seafood. Dessert was even better with a panacotta covered with blueberry & blackberry coulis and Rhett had creme brûlée...all amazing!!! Loving Italy so far! xoxo ...
