Venice On Foot and a Black Tongue

A travel blog entry by diandpete

Strike day so wherever we went today, it was on foot. The hotel is near the station at the top of the island and our plan was to see St Mark's Square and Basilica and surrounds. ... made our way to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as well as the Victor Emmanuel Statue. The Tomb of the Uknown Italian Soldier is a massive white structure that looks quite impressive.

In the evening we jumped on the train to Venice for a four hour train ride to La Serenisima. When we finally tracked down our hostel (45 minutes after arriving and after asking directions from three or four waiters) and found it to be extremely comfortable. ...
