... coast... Reaching the beach at 12 noon... You know what they say about those who go out in the mid-day sun... Well we did, the fools and the Englishman! The beach was beautiful and deserted, we swam and Peng hid from the sun under an umbrella, a headscarf and factor 130 sun cream... She is a unique individual! After cooking in the sun we went in search of some much needed air con and recovered with sushi in the mall. Arriving back home in Mentakab in the ...

... were able to get really good Indian food which we had almost every night. On the first day we took a walk through the town and up to the botanical gardens. This was a nice day and we saw lots of monkeys and even a monitor lizard. The next day we went to Penang National Park. This was a brilliant day. We trekked through the jungle to one of the beaches and then back again. The best thing about it was that it was a real jungle with some of the tracks really buried in ...

... we found a seafood restaurant and ate a variety of amazing dishes, from crab to tuna to shark. We then went to the beach where independence day celebrations were being held. It turned out to be a hilarious evening with elaborate bonfires, Canadian drinking games, and excessive amounts of Malaysian alcohol. It was quite a sending off, and I knew I would miss Phoebe and Annie dearly. Saturday 30th August: Learning my lesson from the previous night, I had wrapped myself in the ...
