The setting of the sun setting falling behind the mountains and dry landscape as we climbed up to Delphi overlooking the Gulf of Corinth from the slopes of Mt. Parnassos made the five hour wait at deserted Lamia bus station all worthwhile (where it appeared we were the main tourist attraction!). Our tiny attic apartment at the Hotel Feriades and its stunning bathroom view was a sight to wake up too! We had spent the previous night at a outdoor bar, sipping my best frappe yet while overlooking...

With the political parades in Athens there were difficulties in getting all the tour group back to their hotels and we found ourselves dropped off at Syntagma Square after a circuitous ride through the city to drop off others. That's it - the magic is well & truly broken... who needs to see some more old ruins anyway?! It is not so hot early in the morning and you'll find it even more pleasing than in the night. If you go there in winter, keep in mind that in Parnassos, which is higher in the mountain, you will find the best greek location for winter sports. <br>
Delphi, Greece cipitriaWe encountered a pretty funny sign at the Athens bus station on our way to Delphi - free smoking. I decided that meant you could practically "smoke for free" by just going into the waiting room. Delphi, the home of the famous Oracle, is a sleepy little mountain town based on tourism and was very much like Banff. But this time of year it was very quiet ...

Beautiful Basil was our program representative for this trip, and she sat in on both classes as our guest. I was especially proud of Groom, Disney, Blink Blink, and Chopper, who led excellent peer facilitations and really showed off to Basil what they've been learning. Later we all hoofed it together to the taverna for the last dinner I am hosting out of the program entertainment fund. The rain was dumping in buckets by the ...

I found this to be troubling at first but soon remembered that the record of Christianity in the Americas and the South Pacific was not dissimilar. The main difference was that Muslims apparently can appreciate beauty and so they at least left the torso and limbs undamaged. By the way, statuary of the Roman era could be a little different because the Romans would carve one regally or militarily clad torso and then just mount the new ...

When we arrived in Delphi we visited the Sanctuary of Apollo, the Treasury of the Athenians and the Archaelogical Museum. One of the places that was my favorite of this part of the trip was the Stadium where some of the early Olympians ...
