We had our lunch at a Russian church a little way outside of town in Shipka. We have now seen 100% of the Russian churches in the country. This particular church is here because there were Russian troops here at one time fighting a war against the Turks. It's huge compared to the little Russian church in Sofia. We left Plovdiv for a long day on the bus to the city of Nesebar on the Black Sea. After a two hour drive we arrived in Stefan's hometown of Kazanlak in the Valley of the Roses. Here they manufacture 90% of the world's rose oil. The roses were done blooming, but we passed FIELDS of sunflowers and lavender. Gorgeous!! Also a couple of wagons pulled by horses with pom poms. Roma people. In Kazanlak we went to the Thracian Museum and then visited two Thracian tombs. One ...
