... place that commemorates the taking back of Spain from the Moors by the Christians in the late 700s. Apparently, this Pelayo dude (very scary smelly mountain man-looking from the paintings around) decided enough was enough. [Guess the Moors were permitting too much education, freedom, civilization, art, science and the like.) So here we stand in the heart of all that made the way for throwing out of ...
Covadonga, Asturias, Spain and Canary Islands sinfronteras... saying. We were at La Playa Franca and it was BEAUTIFUL!! I call it “where the mountains meet the sea”. I have never seen anything like that before, so it was very amazing to me. The mountains were literally going into the sea. We spent an hour taking pictures and exploring and just soaking in all of the beauty.
The rest is just said with pictures.....
We are staying in a little village called Avin. We visited Cangas de Onis which is a pretty little town with an ancient bridge. We went to the seaside at Llanes and went on a cliff top walk.
Next day we went to Desfiladero de Cares. The pathway was made at the beginning of the 20th centuary by the workmen who blasted out a course for a canal to supply water for hydro-electicity for the area. The walk is from Poncedos to Cain and winds it way ...
... We rolled into San Sebastian around 10 to find the office closed!! Fortunately, they had only stepped away for a break and after setting up we sat by the camper and enjoyed some rose and regular port.

Costa del Sol, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands pv_blog... in Manilva. Location The Pierre & Vacances Terrazas Costa del Sol Holida Village is located on the Gibraltar side of Manilva. Its well sign-posted off the A7. If you are travelling on the motorway don’t get off at the Manilva exit like we did, but go onto the next exit and then get onto the A7 headed back to Malaga. The site ...
Costa del Sol, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands pv_blog... Kevin (actually I) forgot to put the battery back in after charging. So I tried to take a picture with Kevin's phone, but it just wasn't the same.
As with most modern art, the art itself was cool, but the commentary was laughable so I stopped listening to the handheld tour and just read the plaques. They say the same thing but as they are short, manage to do so without pretension and posturing. Nor do they use the words "actually" and "essentially" too much ...
... Don Pelayo. I don't remember why it was important but it was awesome to see a church like that in such an isolated place. The highlights of the day came later. We embarked to a tiny, tiny village called Asiegu: Population 102! Literally. This is village in the mountains where 2 brothers have started a little tourist destination that showcases their Sidra (cider) and Queso de Cabrales (their famous goat chese) business. They guided us on a tour guide through their village, which ...
