I'm on a Boat!

... we went out to another great restaurant in Scopello with cousin Nino and his family. I was a little worried about this visit because last time we came to that restaurant in 2007 I had a little stomach issue, they had only 1 coed bathroom and NO TOILET PAPER!! I still wake up in a cold sweat sometimes.

We had the best mussels in a red wine sauce. I think I had a little too much white house wine as I woke up for the airport a little ...

Sinatra and Battle!!!

... 60 piece orchestras. The orchestra sounded great and the girl had a very nice voice, but her accent kinda killed the songs a bit.

After that Angela, Uncle Tommy, Aunt Josephine and I went for drinks and they were by far the weakest. The LI Iced teas were actually Ice tea I think.

Today there was no mountain biking, but we did meet up with Uncle Leonardo and his wife. He is my grandmother's brother and a phenomenal, inspiring person. He has been blind from ...

Pizza, Beach and Climbing Oh My!

... called to see if I wanted to go rock climbing. First off not only had I not been to a gym in 4 years, but I can't remember the last time I was on a bike let alone on the side of a mountain. Anyway...I wound up doing both and it was great. I probably won't have use of my legs tomorrow but we will see.

The view was spectacular...no seriously like something out of a movie. Why is it that we only do this during the summer?

Angela and the ladies went to the beach. The ...

Come 'sta? Bene....molto bene.

... and had Gelato!!! Yum! Nociolla! The best was that we had an uphill walk to burni it all off. Can we really leave Sicily the same weight or less? Hmmm....

They all have work today, so we are now going to have coffee with Grandma Giordano and then meet up with Uncle Tommy and Aunt Josephine and hopefully hit the beach. Ciao!

Day of rest

Sunny day relax by the pool soak up the sun and read our books. Most importantly avoid the traffic!

Wandered into town after lunch for a gelato and a stroll around the back streets. Life is good!!!!

Scopello band in the piazza

... ready to bear fruit next month, they were at least 70 - 100yrs old with massive trunks. We watched the main band do a sound check and perform one song, then the first act started - one guy with a guitar. He sounded quite melodramatic and had a striking resemblance to Flacko without the hair curl. We stayed for two songs and headed as rain was imminent. Drive down the road the rain caught us and would have dampened ...

Trapani and Erice from Malta in 40 minutes

... unforgettable for all your life.

And then the good food, the excellent wine, the hospitality, not to mention the wonderful tan, the lush countryside – you will love it.

Sicily is not all like the zone we are talking about. But even so, so much has changed in recent years to modernise and improve that some places are virtually unrecognisable from a few years back. Castellammare del Golfo is a picturesque fishing village set amid lofty hills and ...

Tango, Greek temples and Turkish steps

... springs near here so I follow an endlessly winding road and arrive at sundown. I'm tired, cold and my muscles are stiff so I'm really looking forward to slipping into a hot thermal pool. Just as I get completely undressed and am really shivering with cold I get a call on my mobile from a couple of girls I've met at tango inviting me to dinner, then immediately after I get a call from an Italian friend. What's the etiquette for standing around naked and freezing and talking to ...
