      ... imagine the conversations that were had! The food started coming out just after 7.00pm. Tomato with parmesan & olive oil, zucchini flowers & zucchini's lighly fried, puff pastry frittata thingy! Delicious! Followed by minestrone, pasta with basil pesto, chicken cacciatore with a side dish of vegetables & finally tiramisu. All done by 9.00pm. Tiziana had also washed up & cleaned up. Molto ...

      ... 19th C, donated by Pietro Pfanner, who was a distinguished doctor, philanthropist and the mayor of Licca in 1920. That was definitely an eye opener.

      The garden with its octagonal fountain, ornamental flowers, shrubbery and statues can also be clearly seen from the city walls behind. Many are the tourists who just take photos from above.
      Palazzo Pfanner was the location for the film, Portrait of a Lady with Nicole Kidman and John Malkovich.

      ... a lot of time, energy and money to make their wall what it is today. It's thick walls made for a place for the locals to come out of their close quarters and meet and walk in the daylight....a tradition still kept today especially on Sundays..
      So this is a very good example of how a fortress looked in it's hey day. think I am repeating today's blog as seem too have lost the one with this ...

      ... breads, olives, extra virgen olive oil, basalmic vinegar (that was the best we have ever tasted) and 6 types of wine they produce along with a dessert wine. We ate and ate at long tables in tents on the grounds....It was bliss. Then we rode back and sang songs on the bus. We napped and went to dinner and a show. The mediterranean is smooth and gorgeous with mountainous islands glistening in the late evening sun...

      ... I am not struggling to understand so much Italian.... We are racing along quite fast in the lesson, and David thinks it is too fast...today we revise the articles and learn the verbs... And have some practical conversations...
      Poor Laura our teacher keeps telling us to keep the noise down... 'piano, piano' lei dice... So we have a new lady Nancy...from USA who is v keen on food...and attends language classes...so chat over lunch ...
