... but we were blessed with sunny weather. Sulmona, south from L'Aquila, is in a valley surrounded by National Parks with hiking in summer and skiing in winter so shares some similarities with Bright in Victoria. Plenty of shops and restaurants so we chose one for a delicous dinner with a groaning antipasti table, papardelle of hare sauce, ox tongue, a delicate tiramisu and, of course, the local wine Montepulciano D'Abruzzo.
