Karak, Jordan netsrotj... We got there very early in the morning so the heat wasn't too bad. Avsha and I decided it would be cool to play a game of shesh besh in the water.
He has a bad habit of throwing the dice so hard when he's upset that they fly off the game board.
We thought it would be funny when he did this in the dead sea since the dice would float.
Sure enough, he got upset and the dice floated!
He also beat me which is unusual but I wasn't really ...
Dead Sea Region, Israel travelbug15... rebellion of Jews in the Warsaw ghetto to the eventual end of the war and liberation of the camps. Then you get information about how these people became Displaced Persons and the eventual United Nations vote to create the State of Israel. It's a harrowing story that the curators push you through ultimately putting you in a zen-like room containing literally millions of personal stories from the family or friends of people murdered by the Nazis ...
Sedom, HaDarom, Israel hkcigar... the same road we passed through another small town, and followed the brown signs to Al Qasr. The ruins were surrounded by a fence, with a locked gate, but after some investigation we discovered a gap around the side allowing us to hop right through. Danny and Ben amused themselves by climbing up onto the ancient columns whilst I covered my eyes and scolded them loudly. The site was littered with huge stone pieces of the columns, about one meter thick and with a ...
Karak, Jordan stephspeirs... our tent in the car and decided to run to the shuttle so we could head to the concert at the kibbutz. Everybody there who had just arrived was covered in sand: hair was gray, clothes turned a shade of brown, and by swiping one finger down your cheek you could take off a layer of sand covering your face. There, some reggae and funk bands played late into the night. The grass field was sheltered on all sides by buildings, so the wind and sand was no problem here to the 1 ...
Dead Sea, Israel salerhand... they were taking their mud home to use in the privacy of their baths. After a swim in the Dead Sea and a cold freshwater shower, our skin did feel incredible and soft. Even Andrew went back for a full facial. The pictures really speak about the excellent time we were having. Time to tour Amman!! We have spent all this time seeing Jordan yet we have not explored Amman yet. Full report to follow.
Dead Sea Region, Jordan willa_andrew... prices and there aren't any tourists staying in them. Most tourists visiting the castle are on day tours out of Amman, or ones who stop in on their way to Petra. We did a lot of dickering at both places, the taxi driver really wanted us to stay at the cheaper one - he must get some backshish (kick back). They didn't meet our price and it is a bit of a dump so we decided to go to the more expensive place, we did get him down to 28 JD. We go to the ...
Karak, Jordan dancejill... to say 'no mess no fuss, leave it to us!'" It would have been interesting to explore that conversation further, but when it comes to border crossings both Dave's and my reflexes are to clear the area as quickly as possible, which we did. We pulled our luggage 100 meters or so to the Israeli side. We showed our passports, and went through a security check, where our suitcases went through a scanner. Then we proceeded to immigration where our passports were stamped with ...
