... this visit was that a self guided walk or bike ride were the only options to see this village. However our traveling companion, Courtney Lantz, had contacted and signed us up with one of the few private tour guides AND which turned out to be one of our favored travel highlights. We discovered that the city at one time was surrounded by a massive stonewall ...

From Amsterdam we went to Edam for a night. The only thing I will remember about that place is that the whole area(town& farms) all smelt of cow poo. Stora Torget, the small town square, framed on one side by one of the church ruins, is a nice spot for an outdoor drink or to just enjoy some springtime sunshine. Beware though, in summer the tourists are legion and finding that perfect spot to ...

I managed to last until 03:00 and to be fair, Julie was up by then demanding that I went to bed, which I duly did and managed a couple of hours sleep. When I got up, I saw that Julie was very upset and was clutching her phone. She had just managed to get a signal and it brought the very worst of news. Our dear friend, Michael Healy, who had recently had a bone marrow transplant in an attempt to rid him of leukaemia, had passed ...
