... so many. The locals know about them but they try to keep this information for themselves.
Larnaca district, where Lazarus the biblical saint who Jesus resurrected from the dead, established one of the most gracious churches, where bells bellow just as they did a 1000 years ago. Is really one of the most underdeveloped of the main towns.
Its night time and there are lots of ...
... again of my childhood.
This little church is situated just a couple of miles from Larnaca, near Aradipou.
It is on the old road of Larnaca-Nicosia.
Difficult for me to recognize the area because the village of Aradipou has so much stretched out and it is as if it has been united with Larnaca.
Everything is so different now, I believe the church is found very near the industrial area.
I can't see the fields we ...
... as they will reach their homes after midnight.
What they are brought is just plain junkfood, and the owner and staff are very arrogant.
We are talking to them and they pretend they are listening to us, but without talking at all or reacting to what we tell them.
Most of my friends complain about the junkfood being brought to them, but instead, both the staff and the owner seem to walk around ...
... in the world for the Muslims and the first most important religious place for the Turkish Cypriots.
It is actually the only surviving Arab monument in Cyprus, built in 1816 over the tomb of Umm Haram, and was renovated taking its present appearance.
In Ottoman times, it was a Tekke. In the year 2002 a new renovation and ...
PLACES OF INTEREST IN LARNACA - ANCIENT CHURCHES
The town with an easy-going pace, having strong links to the past.
The remains of the ancient city-kingdom of Kition is found in the heart of modern Larnaca.
Kition is the birthplace of the ...
... saying that his car could not go on, and that he needed help. Well, during that interpretation of mine, some Cypriots were found near by who started pulling the car on the side of the main road.
What a laugh…..my friends had!
The reason is that Cypriot traditional language is a bit heavier. Cypriots talk the real ancient Greek language ...
... as a result acquaintance with it is impossible.
The worst moments of my life were in July 1974 when the Turks invaded Cyprus. I was on the island then, and I clearly remember the threat and us running in the rifle pits to be saved!
The long watches of the nights without sleep, hoping that parachutists won’t be dropped in our city ...
... and that is a change for me, too. This place is dirt cheap and suits my needs just fine though...I just miss being around other travelers seeking the same adventures since I am traveling alone this week.
So in my quest to crack this nut I visited 4 rental car joints in town and each had a three day minimum. No one would rent for just a day. One guy offered me a moped but it had to stay in the city limits and even that was $60. Hell no. I am not ...
... unlike here where it's all out in the open.
But back to my point...Billa provides a shopping experience I have never before seen in a supermarket. Just when I think I have seen it all, I find one of those travel experiences in some Bulgarian grocery store underground next to the subway station. All right there grouped together next to the registers (manned by dour matrons) where we would keep the tic tacs and magazines were mints ...
... most of the time. We ordered a nice bottle of white wine, and we were enjoying our dinner.... The atmosphere was nice, and although there were other people around, we felt as if every piece of music played was dedicated to us. It was as if we were requesting one piece of music after the other, and it was there for us to enjoy. We could not believe our ears....and we had missed all those pieces. We returned home just a little before midnight having ...
