... to share a taxi with a couple of girls who were going to Trivandrum airport. I had booked a guesthouse only 6kms from there as my flight to Male was early the following morning. It was extremely hot and humid for going anywhere at all, and I didn't want to keep my travel buddies late so I was I a lather of sweat by the time I checked out. Initially Jane is wary of the water. Although she swam off the Barrier Reef in Australia, that was a long time ago and there she was within a pontooned off safety zone with lifeguards in attendance. Initially she would just swim with me walking before her, holding her hands. As the days passed, she became much more confident and she would snorkel happily in the shallows as long as I was nearby, and we were able to take to deeper water ...

... Maldives! I suppose this is a couples and surfing destination. There really aren't that many fish in the sea. I'm all shiny, unwedded and single. I stop the boat, cut the motor and the crew drop anchor. I get out of my sea throne and make my way to the back of the boat, to cast a line, and catch my dinner. The 21 questions guys calls me over, and hands me a reel - he has already baited and thrown the line out for me... He's doing for me, what I paid to do... I see ...

... another night dive that was great as well. We saw lots of eels that come out to feed, white tipped reef sharks, and big jack fish. I think one of the jack fish nibbled at my hair! We had a visit to an island to do some shopping and check out how some of the people live. It was quite interesting. Many people live very simply and depend on the sea for the majority of their food. We also had a bbq one night on a tiny island. The sand was like baby powder. ...
