Cruise Phase 1
Our cruise started in Venice on 4 October. The Oceania Rivera was all that we thought it would be. Our stateroom is spacious and very well fitted out. As with all rooms on this particular ship, we have our own balcony where we can sit and enjoy the passing scenery. There are numerous restaurants at which to eat. Four are speciality restaurants and then there is the Grand Dining Room, a buffet restaurant, an outside bar and grill and a coffee shop. It seems that every which way ...
Arrived in Heraklion
... other (they're only having a conversation really!) and all sorts of airport staff sat in a long line wearing sun glasses and smoking cigarettes. We jump in a taxi straight away and for 12 euros we reach our Hotel. The city is only 4 kilometres west of the airport and it only takes 10 minutes to get there. Quite an entertaining short drive though...as while the car was making a persistent beep beep ...
Kreta
Ik word wakker omdat het schip aan het manoeuvreren is. Op het klokje naast het bed is het 7u. Omdat we een uur vooruit zijn en ik de tijd nooit heb aangepast, denk ik dat we er al zijn. (we zouden aanmeren om 8u) Ik sta op en ga naar het balkon. Ik zie er een prachtige zonsopgang. Het manoeuvreren blijft duurt en we blijken onder begeleiding van de havenpiloot door een smalle doorgang tot bij de haven te moeten varen. We zijn dus nog niet helemaal aangekomen en ...
Heraklion to Mykonos - Ferry Trip from hell
... We are very happy to see you” and we all laughed. He said “I know you have had a terrible day”. After a short drive we finally got to our room just before midnight. This trip took all up 14 hrs, we could of been in Bangkok in 14 hrs. Anyway glad to be here after a trip from hell. We showered and went to bed and Mary was still feeling sick. Our room is big with a big beautiful comfy king size bed, just what we needed. Goodnight.

Goodbye Crete
... For 70 euro we grab a standard room. Our room has a great view of the ocean and the beach isn’t bad, covered with white chairs and four poster beds at this resort. 3.30pm and its lunch time so we walk up the street and it has mostly empty restaurants. We finally found a taverna open and saganaki, calamari, greek salad for lunch, Yum! Back to our resort for a nice swim in the pool which was fabulous and so refreshing.
